THE HISTORY BEHIND THIS ALBUM…
As a fifteen year old schoolboy I bought this album from Wells Record Shop, Romford on the day of it’s release or shortly after. It was 1965 and I am still the original owner after 57 years. It has formed part of my record collection ever since.
WHY IS IT IN SUPERB CONDITION?…
On the day of purchase I also bought a heavy duty clear outer plastic sleeve to preserve it for the future. It has only today been removed to take the photographs for this listing. As a ‘sad teenager’ it was never lent to friends or taken to parties but treasured and cared for. It was important to me and has been a part of my life ever since. The album has always been stored in perfect conditions and only ever played on good quality systems. The sound and quality of play is excellent with little or no background noise. For many years it has been stored upright in a cabinet or record case and has not been affected in any way by climate or sunlight. The quality and condition of printing, colour and lamination on the sleeve face is exceptional. There are no creases, stains, blemishes, marks. bumped corners or handwriting. The title on the edge is clear and flat. The whole album is totally clean and shows no ageing or sign of wear. The opening edge is straight, sharp and undamaged. The original inner sleeve with plastic lining is excellent. The surface of the vinyl is bright and shiny and has never been touched by hands or fingers. The disc itself has only ever been correctly handled by it’s edges. There are absolutely no surface marks on the vinyl. It is as clean and bright as the day it was purchased and I brought it home to my parents house on the 165 bus!
WHY AM I SELLING?...
I am now of an age when I need to downsize and I am hoping this album, along with others I have for sale will be purchased by serious collectors who will continue to care and preserve them as I have done for the last 57 years. Many of my albums I am listing have been replaced over the years by CDs but the quality of sound… well you know, it’s just not the same! Please look out for other records from my collection including Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Cream, Dylan and many others all in the same superb condition which I will be listing in the future.
Finally, as a man in his seventies the sound of the opening chords of this album still sends a shiver down my spine and takes me straight back to the 60s. It is truly ‘awesome’ and this vinyl is undoubtedly the finest copy of this seminal album you’re ever likely to find. I wish you luck in the auction.
