The Who - Magic Bus b/w Bucket T Japanese Polydor TDP - 1603 with superb Japan only picture sleeve. Excellent VG+ condition.
On offer here is one of the scarcer and more in demand Japanese Who releases, which is saying something as Japanese Who 45's feature some of the nicest designs and most unique couplings of the era. Yet certain of the groups Japanese releases did not sell in large amounts at the time, with the Magic Bus / Bucket T pairing being amongst the lowest selling. Which of course explains the fiendish difficulty one likely encounters in the pursuit of adding this most elusive release to the collection.
This copy, while not perfect, remains an extremely acceptable example of this 45. The front cover is clean and unmarked, with a minor crease evident in the upper right corner. Other than this the all important front of the sleeve is in truly excellent condition. The rear of the sleeve is clean and white, much whiter, in fact, than the scan reveals. Two minor bits of writing are evident. One which appears to be a radio station filing code, and a minor green check mark. The flipbacks are square and intact, 100% aligned and attached. The labels are 100% clean and unmarked, the disc grades minimally VG+, though when viewed in daylight or indirect household light a grade of Mint- could easily be assessed. Minor wispy hairlines are revealed when viewed directly under a bright halogen bulb. Happily, these in NO way affect the playing quality of the disc, which is by any measure extraordinary. The Loud Powerful MONO MIX delivers a genuinely exciting listening experience, of course the quality of the Japanese Polydor pressing has been world renowned for decades. Discs such as this reveal why this has long been acknowledged.
