CONDITION FOR THIS LISTING:

RECORD CONDITION / VG+ /// record definitely looks EX or better, was listen-tested and it sounds awesome but there is light vinyl crackle in places, so we're grading down to VG+. A lot of it plays at EX level.

JACKET CONDITION / VG+ /// close to EX, just looks a little too aged overall to grade there. Only has minor flaws noticeable under close inspection. Some paper separation on back has wrinkled up, some edge wear, very light record impression. COVER IS A CUT OUT and has one corner cut, please see photos.

The Who are an English rock band that formed in 1964. Their classic line-up consisted of lead singer Roger Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. They are considered one of the most influential rock bands of the 20th century, selling over 100 million records worldwide and establishing their reputation equally on live shows and studio work.

The Who developed from an earlier group, the Detours, and established themselves as part of the pop art and mod movements, featuring auto-destructive art by destroying guitars and drums on stage. Their first single as the Who, "I Can't Explain", reached the UK top ten, followed by a string of singles including "My Generation", "Substitute" and "Happy Jack". In 1967, they performed at the Monterey Pop Festival and released the US top ten single "I Can See for Miles", while touring extensively. The group's fourth album, 1969's rock opera Tommy, included the single "Pinball Wizard" and was a critical and commercial success. Live appearances at Woodstock and the Isle of Wight Festival, along with the live album Live at Leeds, cemented their reputation as a respected rock act. With their success came increased pressure on lead songwriter and visionary Townshend, and the follow-up to Tommy, Lifehouse, was abandoned. Songs from the project made up 1971's Who's Next, which included the hit "Won't Get Fooled Again". The group released the album Quadrophenia in 1973 as a celebration of their mod roots, and oversaw the film adaptation of Tommy in 1975. They continued to tour to large audiences before semi-retiring from live performances at the end of 1976. The release of Who Are You in 1978 was overshadowed by the death of Moon shortly after.

Kenney Jones replaced Moon and the group resumed activity, releasing a film adaptation of Quadrophenia and the retrospective documentary The Kids Are Alright. After Townshend became weary of touring, the group split in 1982. The Who occasionally re-formed for live appearances such as Live Aid in 1985, a 25th anniversary tour in 1989 and a tour of Quadrophenia in 1996. They resumed regular touring in 1999, with drummer Zak Starkey. After Entwistle's death in 2002, plans for a new album were delayed. Townshend and Daltrey continued as the Who, releasing Endless Wire in 2006, and continued to play live regularly.

The Who's major contributions to rock music include the development of the Marshall stack, large PA systems, use of the synthesizer, Entwistle and Moon's lead playing styles, Townshend's feedback and power chord guitar technique, and the development of the rock opera.

The Who Sell Out is the third studio album by the British rock band The Who, released on 15 December 1967 by Track Records in the UK and Decca Records in the US. It is a concept album, formatted as a collection of unrelated songs interspersed with faux commercials and public service announcements. The album purports to be a broadcast by pirate radio station Radio London. Part of the intended irony of the title was that The Who were making commercials during that period of their career, some of which are included as bonus tracks on the remastered CD.

The album's release was reportedly followed by lawsuits due to the mention of real-world commercial interests in the faux commercials and on the album covers, and by the makers of the real jingles (Radio London jingles), who claimed the Who used them without permission. (The jingles were produced by PAMS Productions of Dallas, Texas, which created thousands of station ID jingles in the 1960s and 1970s). It was the deodorant company, Odorono, who took offense that Chris Stamp made a request for endorsement dollars. "I Can See for Miles" was released as a single and peaked at #10 in the UK and #9 in the US.

The Who Sell Out received widespread acclaim from critics, some of whom viewed it as The Who's best record and one of the greatest albums of all time.

***Records will be shipped outside of the jacket in order to avoid seam splits. If a record is still sealed it will be shipped to you as is ? please send me a message if you'd like me to break the seal and remove it from the jacket***

The cost that you pay for shipping will most often be rounded up, the additional funds are what is used to buy packaging materials such as: mailers, boxes, padded envelopes, bubble wrap, cardboard stiffeners or tape. These items are necessary to ensure a safe delivery, I package my items with tender loving care and my techniques have been very successful with hundreds of happy customers. If you have specific questions or requests for packaging please let me know via eBay messages. At times a buyer might have a request that I feel is a bit excessive or unnecessary, if we cannot reach an agreement then the transaction may be canceled.

5. CLEANING RECORDS

If it's plain to see that a record needs cleaned, I will clean it. I believe in finding out the maximum potential of what the wax has to offer, I have a method I've used for years that truly works wonders. I spray the record with a cleaning solution that's made up of rubbing alcohol, dish soap (free & clear), and water. I then rinse the record off using my own method that keeps the water OFF of the label, if any drops still find their way they are wiped off immediately. The record is then air dried.

6. GRADING DESCRIPTIONS

Guidelines for record grading / condition of used records (based on Goldmine Grading for Records)

MINT (M): Perfect! This record looks like it has just left the manufacturer, with NO flaws what so ever. It looks as though it had never been handled. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains. No stickers or writing address labels. COVER: No writing, no tears or seam splits. No wear to the cover or record period! Age of the record has nothing to do with it.

NEAR MINT or (NM), (M-): RECORD: Record appears virtually flawless. A very minor scuff and very little else appears on the vinyl. It should play without any noise over the flaw. The flaw is very hard to see. COVER: The cover looks as close to perfect with only minor signs of wear and or age. Minor impressions to the cover (due to the outer edge of the vinyl resting inside) may be acceptable, however the artwork is as close to perfect as can be.

(VG++), EXCELLENT or (EX): RECORD: Will have minor scuffs which are only slightly visible. There may be more than a few scuffs and NO scratches. COVER: Artwork is still as close to perfect as can be. Some impression to the cover (minor outer ring wear) but no ink wear! Some slight creases to the corners, but not wrinkled and obtrusive to the eye. The corners can show white (where the artwork pasted slick was) meaning, slight wear. No seam splits, writing on the cover or taped repairs.

VERY GOOD PLUS or (VG+): RECORD: A VG+ record shows some wear and surface scuffs. The vinyl still has a great luster, but the flaws will be noticeable to the naked eye. Visible flaws don't cause too much surface noise. COVER: A virtually clean cover, but may have small writing on it. The artwork looks clean with slightly more aging. Flat white paper will be somewhat yellow, but no large stains or mildew from water damage. Some minor wear to the seams or spine, but no significant tears or holes popping through. The corners will be slightly dog eared, but no crackly bends, defacing the artwork.

VERY GOOD or (VG): RECORD: A record that is good enough. They are not really going to look very good, but will PLAY very good. There will almost always be some surface noise when they are played. The Dynamics should still be excellent, overpowering the surface noise. A VG record will look like it has been played, but still have some luster. COVER: VG covers will look worn, used. There may be some seam splitting . There may be some ring wear, where the ink has begun to wear off, giving the cover a look of snow falling. There may be some writing on the cover, item description will address these issues. It will look aged and more yellowish due to contamination's in the air (sometimes looking like cigarette smoke), but should be decent.

GOOD or (G): RECORD: A good record will look very well played, dull, grayish and possibly abused. However a Good record should still play. It will have distracting surface noise. Such as crackle that is continuous or some hiss. Will also have some loss of dynamics caused from grooves being worn. It should play without any skips or any obtrusively loud pops or repeated clicks, caused by deep scratches. Good means that it will play with some form of decency, so one can still enjoy the music even though you can still hear noise caused from the wear. COVER: Good cover will have just about everything wrong with it. It will have seam splits (possibly taped repaired, but only with scotch tape. No duct tape or masking tape repairs. May have magic marker writing on the cover but will not be in huge letters.  In essence, the cover will looked virtually trashed, but some artwork will still be noticed.
