Description
Hello and welcome to one of my auctions! I am a record collector for over 15 years now and I think it’s about time to sell a couple records to make some room and pass it on to another collector. This week’s auctions feature my Rolling Stones, Beatles (and related) and 60’s beat records that are from my own personal collection, so here we go!
On offer, an extremely rare Holland / UK 1st pressing of The Who – The Kids are Alright on the Brunswick, cat. no. DZ 177 026 / LAT 8616. This copy has the unique Dutch sleeve of The Kids are Alright, but has a U.K. pressed record of My Generation inside the cover. The Kids are Alright is in fact the Dutch issue of My Generation, so the songs listed on the back cover complies with the record.
The record looks visually in G condition, but plays (surprisingly enough) in VG condition or better; there are many hairline marks and a couple feelable scratches, but they did not sound on my record player. The labels are in VG+ condition; there are some spindle marks and some light wear around the spindle hole on both sides.
The cover is in VG condition; there is some age browning on both front and back, the back has some light ring wear and there is a tiny sticker tear mark on the upper flip on the back, but besides the normal wear and tear, this cover looks very nice.
Although not exactly in mint condition, this is an extremely rare Holland only issue of the Who’s The Kids are Alright album (which is in fact “My Generation”). As a bonus, this cover contains a U.K. pressed record of My Generation. I’ve seen this a couple times before with the first Small Faces album; the Dutch cover has a U.K. record inside it. And as every record collector knows, Decca and Brunswick was basically the same record company. I think that Holland had too many covers printed for this album (or too little records pressed), so Decca / Brunswick Holland ordered some records in the U.K. in order to sell this album with the unique Dutch only cover. This is a rare opportunity to complete your life-time Who record collection! Happy Bidding!
