I found this sitting all by itself inside the sleeve of a totally random LP I was checking over.
The history behind it is fascinating and quite touching in a way. These are two Rolling Stones songs of course. They were recorded and released within a week by The Who in support of Mick Jagger and Keith Richard who had been jailed on drug charges in the US.  The Who said they would continue to record Stones' covers until the pair were released.  In the event that happened quite soon afterwards and no more recordings were issued.
Pete Townsend played bass on both tracks because John Entwhistle was away on his honeymoon.  Story goes he was woken up in the wee small hours on his way to New York on the Queen Elizabeth to listen to the play back on the ship's radio!
At some point the original punch out middle of the disc has been removed and the curious white plastic job has been added.  It has "Made in the U.S.A." on it.
There was no sleeve with the disc so I've made one up.  The picture is from the sleeve of the original Dutch issue I believe.  I've done this to protect this unusual little nugget from further abuse, not because I think it adds anything to it!
I've cleaned the record up and played it through (both sides).  It plays fine with no skips or jumps or noticeable clicks although there is some background crackle in places which is inevitable considering its age.


All my records are posted in LP mailers with cardboard stiffeners.
