How can you tell a first pressing?
1. The triple fold out E J Day (laminated outer and unlaminated inner) 1st pressing gatefold cover has the 613013/4 catalogue number at the top left hand side of the rear cover - later pressing are unlaminated and have the number 2657 002 on the rear cover.
2. The gatefold cover (where the records are inserted) opens from the inside - later pressings open from the outside.
3. The matrix numbers in the run-off grooves are A1/B1 & A1/B1
4. The limited edition lyric booklet is numbered. Beware of hand-written numbers - these are fakes.
5. Polylined inner sleeves with 'MADE IN ENGLAND' text and 'PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS' (underlined) 'TO AVOID DANGER OF SUFFOCATION .......' text.
6. 1st pressing records have Sides 1&4 on Record 1 and Sides 2&3 on Record 2 and have the "Double Album" text on the left hand side of the labels. Later pressings had "Set No. 2657-002" on the right hand side of the labels.
The one on offer here has all of the above first pressing feature.....
COVER: Triple fold-out laminated gatefold 1st pressing E J Day cover is VG+. No writings/doodles or seam splits. The spine has been taped where there is some rubbing/wear - see photo. There is some light laminate creasing and some edge wear.
A tip for the buyer. If you want to keep this looking nice, do not put the records into the sleeve via the internal opening. This is what tears most covers.
Inner sleeves: Poly-lined 1st pressing inner sleeves: VG+.
Limited Edition Booklet: Near Mint. No writings, doodles, seam splits or missing staples. No. 61349.
VINYL: Not play tested but sides look to be between VG(-) and VG(+). Some feathering/hairlines and a long feelable hairline on Side 1. Would benefit from a clean to bring up to its best as it has not been played for many years.
LABELS: Excellent. No writings, stickers or doodles - spindle marks only.

Gradings.......
Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.
Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.
Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc
Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
