How can you tell this is a genuine rare 1st UK Pressing?
1. Matt black textured labels.
2. 2408 102 DELUXE catalogue number.
3. Matrix numbers 2408 102 - A -1/2408 102 - B – 2
4. "MacNeil Press" 1st issue cover. In among the clouds in the top left corner of the front cover is the telltale 'DL 33789' code. Only first pressing covers had this code.
5. Heavyweight vinyl with deep wide grooves and a thick edge on the outside rims.
6. Side1 has 'MG 12888' in the deadwax - indicating that the pressing came directly from the Mater Tapes and not dubbed from a later copy - which 'Bilbo' in the deadwax would indicate. There is no mention of 'Bilbo' on either side of the deadwax which demonstrates that it a genuine 1st pressing.
7. Most pressings come in plain white poly-lined inner sleeves with the traditional 'Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous' blue text. However, a very small number of pressings of this LP came with the mega rare 'Head Hunters' inner sleeve which advertised a number of Track and other records (Verve, MGM, Atlantic etc) that were marketed via Polydor e.g. The Who, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Velvet Underground. The absence of these 'Head Hunter' inner sleeves does not mean it is not a 1st pressing but it does make the 1st pressing that much rarer and highly sought after by collectors. Indeed, the 'Head Hunters' sleeve is so sought after that a good quality one can command a price of between £15 and £20 on its own.
The item being offered here has all of the above features.
COVER: Excellent+. Unlaminated 1st pressing MacNeill cover. No writings/doodles or seam splits - tiny amount of wear only. Lovely clear spine. Stunning for a 37 year old unlaminated cover.
'Headhunters' inner sleeve: Near Mint. No rips, writings or doodles. Not even any seam splits. Original poly-lining still in place.
VINYL: Excellent+. I have owned several copies of this LP but this was my saver - only played 3/4 times and not for many years. Lovely sheen - hardly any marks

Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.
Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.
Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc
Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
