THE WHO

“WHO'S NEXT” LP

GENUINE RARE

ORIGINAL

11th September 1971

UK 1st PRESSING

ON THE TRACK LABEL

(2408 102 DELUXE)

How can you tell this is a genuine rare 1st UK Pressing?

1. Matt black labels.

2. 2408 102 DELUXE catalogue number on the rear cover.

3. 1st pressing Matrix Numbers 2408 102 - A-1/2408 102 - B-2

4. "MacNeil Press" 1st issue cover. The MacNeil text runs vertically along the bottom right hand side of the rear cover parallel with the spine.

5. In among the clouds, in the top left corner of the front cover, is the  telltale 'DL 33789' code which is barely visible with the naked eye. Only first pressing covers had this code.

6. Heavyweight vinyl with deep wide grooves and a thick edge on the outside rims.

7. Side1 has 'MG 12888' in the deadwax - indicating that the pressing came directly from the Master Tapes and not dubbed from a later copy - which 'Bilbo' in the deadwax would indicate. There is no mention of 'Bilbo' on either side of the deadwax which demonstrates that it is a genuine 1st pressing.

8. Very rare 'Headhunters' inner sleeve which came with just a few early 1st pressings. This inner sleeve was withdrawn shortly after the release of the record because the names of the artists appearing on the inner sleeve had not given their permission to be on the inner sleeve. The sleeve now fetches around £15 on its own.

The one on offer here has all of the above features.

COVER: Excellent. No writings/doodles or seam splits. Has some light wear to spine.

Headhunters Inner Sleeve: Near Mint. Poly lined with no seam splits.

VINYL: Looks to be in 'Excellent' condition. Very lightly played and well cared for.

LABELS: Near Mint. No writings/doodles or stickers.

Postage & packaging: £0 (UK) £5 (EUROPE) & £7 (REST OF THE WORLD)

Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and occasional light scratches.

Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and more significant  scratches.

Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.

Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc

Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
