Cracking Up

Here's one of those tremendous psyche garage records from Texas. The WIG were an Austin based band that were clearly influenced by two things: L.S.D. and the 13th Floor Elevators. Their tune "Crackin Up" is a blistering psyche tune with a great acid breakdown, distorted vocals and a screaming energy.

Check out the credits and you'll find it's Rusty Weir who was the songwriter for this one – he was also the drummer for the group. He later wigged out and went off into country music and cut several records for major labels – none the classic that this is.

This rare original single is on BlacKnight Records (The Wind, Kit & The Outlaws), and is flipped with "Bluescene." This flip is credited to W. Theig – which is The Wig scrambled a bit.
