Description
The Yes Album 1971 original vinyl album on the Atlantic plum label, catalogue number 2400101 (stereo).
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side One: 2400101 A//1 1 1 4 Side Two: 2400101 B//1 1 11 1
This is a heavy vinyl and it is not warped. Both sides of this vinyl are in brilliant condition. There are only a few very faint, light lines and marks on each side and I had to look very carefully to find them under a bright light - they are almost negligible. The whole record plays fantastically well and sounds sensational, I can't imagine how it could be better. Obviously there are no sticks, no skips, no jumps.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have very few, barely visible, spindle lines - no writing, no damage. I do not think this record has been played very often.
This has a gatefold cover which is made from quite a heavy card, it is not laminated or coated. There is a bump on the top right corner, some rub wear on the tips of the corners and some scuffing on the tips of the edges. The facing surfaces are in excellent condition with just some small creases at the edges. The centre piece is, for the most part, in excellent condition but there are two black adhesive strips in the top corner on the right hand side just above Chris Squire's head - a reference card was pasted there when the album was stored in a studio. I have been told that the album is the first issue because of the record labels and the fact that this gatefold has the original 2400 101 catalogue number (apparently later ones were prefixed with a 'K').
The spine has quite a lot of small scuffs but the title and catalogue reference still remain readable.
I think the inner sleeve is the original, but I can't be sure, it's plain white and poly-lined with some printing - no splits, no tears.
I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say the gatefold cover is 'very good' (this allows for the tape in the centre piece or it would be 'excellent') and the record is 'excellent+' as is the audio.
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a record mailing box (cruciform) with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
