THE ZOMBIES – ODESSEY & ORACLE – CBS S 63280 – Stereo UK First Pressing
Original 1968 stereo recording by CBS, catalogue no. S 63280 with matrix nos. SBPG 63280 A2 / B2. Odessey and Oracle by The Zombies is one of those hard-to-find collectables. First UK stereo pressing with first press matrix numbers and orange label with boxed CBS logo at centre.
The disc is overall clean and shiny but there are MANY scratches and surface marks. Side 1 has lots of light crackles and ticks throughout. Side 2 sounds much better (the long ugly scratch is surprisingly inaudible); just a few very faint ticks but most plays perfectly. Definitely not a top grade copy but it’s still a great record. Laminated front sleeve is intact but scruffy; creased, scuffed, grubby and with old-label damage on rear.
