Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
A rare original 1957 1st press mono copy of Thelonious Monk- Brilliant Corners released on the white/blue Riverside Deepgroove label Bill Grauer Productions ( no Inc.). The 418 West 49th Street address is on the rear sleeve.
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl has retained a good lustre but has visible scuffs, marks & hairlines to both sides - no feelable damage. The labels are clean with spindle trails visible - graded VG.
Playback reveals a warm & vibrant mono sound with plenty of detail & is really enjoyable. Some low noise in places, to be expected with vinyl of this vintage, but it plays through well with no jumping or sticking.
The outer sleeve is sadly worn & has shelfwear to the top seam that has been repaired in the past with tape. The spine is 80% missing & the bottom seam is split approx 2/3 along ( see photos). The rear notes section, although foxed, is clear & free from writing.
We have decanted the record into a brand new poly lined inner sleeve to preserve it.
A rare original copy of a sought after album for a collector in playable condition owned by the late Stan Tracey.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
