THELONIOUS MONK - Genius Of Modern Music Volume 2 VINYL Album US BLUE NOTE BLP 1511
Original Mono US pressing on Blue Note Records, 1959. 47 West 63rd NYC to label. Back cover has 43 West 61st St. address. Vinyl run outs have RVG and Ear symbol etched.
Vinyl is in FAIR to GOOD condition (a lot of non feelable marks and scuffs, a few short feelable marks, a lot of paper lines under bright light).
PLAYTESTED - Plays through with no jumps or sticks but does have mild surface noise throughout, most noticeable in the dead wax and quieter parts. Heavy crackle start dead wax into intro of track 1 side 1 and a few clicks during. Heavy crackle in the dead wax into track 2 which has mild crackle in the intro and a few pops. Several soft clicks during. Track 3 has a few soft clicks in the dead wax and during. Mild crackle throughout but not overbearing. Track 4 has mild crackle in the intro and several light clicks at the start. Crackle in the dead wax and into track 5. Track 5 has 20 or so repetitive clicks in the piano break near the end. Several soft clicks during track 6 and crackle in the outro and into the dead wax.
Heavy crackle in the dead wax and into the intro of track 1 side 2 and several soft clicks as the piano comes in. Mild crackle noticeable throughout. Cyclic crackle in the outro and into intro of track 2 for about a minute. Several soft clicks during track 2, with mild crackle in the dead wax and into the intro of track 3. A few soft clicks and dull pops at the start and several soft clicks during. Cyclic crackle 2/3rds through for approximately 30 seconds then cyclic crackle in the outro into the end dead wax and into the first minute or so of track 4. Several soft clicks during and a few clicks at the end into the dead wax. Crackle in the intro of track 5 and a few clicks during. Crackle in the dead wax and into intro of track 6. Several clicks during this track and cyclic crackle for a minute just after the middle of the tune. Several soft clicks and crackle at the end into the dead wax. Plays better than it looks but not one for the audiophile. Listenable and might improve with a pro clean.
Labels are VG+ with a few spindle marks to each side.
Inner is VG- with creasing and small tear.
Sleeve is VG- (small tears to back paste over paper, name in pen to back top corner, grubby spots, mild nudging, edge and shelf wear).
