Description

THELONIOUS MONK SEPTET – “Monk’s Music” (1959) Riverside-1102 Original black label with reel and microphone logo STEREO – John Coltrane!

Content Notes: An incredible and rare jazz set by the great pianist recorded in New York in 1957 with Ray Copeland on trumpet, Gigi Gryce on alto sax, Coleman Hawkins and John Coltrane on tenor saxes, Wilbur Ware on bass and Art Blakey on drums. This is a rare early hi-fi Stereo recording and a legendary, sought-after jazz session.

Cover Condition: VG++

Record Condition: Strong VG+

Condition Notes: Laminated front cover with a label sticker noting it’s a stereo recording. There’s the beginnings of a 2-inch seam split in the middle of the bottom seam, but considering this is 51 years old, this is a really tight copy. The vinyl has some light sleeve scuffs but they’re primarily superficial. This plays great. All-in-all, this is a really great copy.

All records are original pressings. I do not sell any bootlegs or reissues.

PACKAGING

I package all LPs securely in record mailers and remove the vinyl from the covers to prevent seam splits during mailing. I do not just stick your record in a priority mailer box from the post office or between two thin pieces of cardboard with no additional packaging materials like so many others!!!
