The debut album ''Of Darkness….'' by the Stockholm formation THERION was still pure flawless Death Metal. Initially still on the road as BLITZKRIEG after the renaming to THERION 1989 , based on CELTIC FROST's ''To Mega Therion'', everything was ready so far and the wild beast was unleashed. Following a couple of demos as the style evolved out of an effective and raw mix of thrash/death metal, ''Of Darkness….'' was released in 1991 and featured 8 songs which mainman Christofer Johnsson had composed already in the 1980s. The album could be defined as an early example of progressive death metal, though also included influences from other genres, further distinguishing them from other traditional death metal acts of the time, who were often focused solely on brutality. The lyrics were also more politically & socially themed, relating more heavily towards the downfall of the planet and mankind. The album was recorded at the infamous Sunlight Studio in Stockholm with producer Tomas Skogsberg. The 2017´s re-issue edition comes with orginal coverartwork, 180g black vinyl & with printed inner sleeve.
