Thin Lizzy : Jailbreak 1Y1 / 2Y2 1st Press Vertigo 1976

This first pressing plays to a superb standard with no interference at all.  There are no ticks, clicks, pops or static the playback just could not be any better.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is second to none and it is without doubt a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing.  'As new' sums it up perfectly I cannot pay a higher compliment.  The vinyl is also very impressive visually and it is obvious it has hardly been played.

The gatefold is in great condition with only minimal wear and there is nothing that stands out, very clean overall.  The original inner sleeve has also been preserved very well.

This first pressing was issued with a die-cut cover and the matrix is of course 1Y1/2Y2.

Visual description

The vinyl is in superb condition and still has a lovely glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light S1 is stunning with only a couple of small faint hairlines and S2 has only 4/5 faint hairlines.  The Vertigo labels are unmarked and have no spindle wear.  This is a stunning example!

Play grading  

The intro on 'Jailbreak' plays with perfect audio and Lynott's opening vocal section is just as good.  What you notice first here is how strong and deep the audio is, the sonic quality is stunning.  The first chorus is faultless and it continues in the same way with no intrusion on the audio.  The instrumental section keeps up the standard and the final vocal / chorus have no interference.  This is easily a Mint start to the album.

'Angel From The Coast' and 'Running Back' both play with sublime quality and no background.  No ticks, clicks, pops or static just pure Mint audio from start to finish.  Again that deep rich audio quality is evident and neither track could play any better.

'Romeo And The Lonely Girl' again shows how infrequently this vinyl has been played.  It plays with zero interference and the sonic quality is first class in every respect.  The long fade out has no background either.  Mint

The long intro on 'Warriors' plays with outstanding clarity and depth and the opening vocal is just as strong and clear.  It continues to impress on so many levels.  The clarity of sound and the power and definition is stunning and you would not know this was the last track on the side based on the audio quality.  Mint all the way.

The classic 'The Boys Are Back In Town' plays with stunning quality from the get go.  The intro has just one barely audible dust tick (and I do mean barely audible!) and the first verse / chorus are 'as new' for sure.  It continues to play with phenomenal quality through every section and there is not one single negative.  If you want a perfect version of this all time classic then look no further!  Mint

A more sedate intro on 'Fight Or Fall' and it plays perfectly without any background and the opening vocal is just as clean.  equal to that.  From then on it plays with stunning precision and 'as new' is again a correct description.  Impressive because this is a quieter number and yet there is no background whatsoever.  Another Mint track.

The very quiet opening section on 'Cowboy Song' plays beautifully with not even a dust tick let alone anything more.  You can easily hear the super quiet harmonica in the background, a measure of the clarity on offer here.  As the volume increases there is no let up in quality and the playback is stunning.  The entire 5+ minutes play 'as new' with no intrusion on the audio.  Honestly I cannot emphasise enough just how sharp and precise the audio is, it is undeniably another Mint version and that includes the fade out.

'Emerald' ends the album in fine style with tremendous power and depth and... no interference.  A harder edge on this track compared to the others and the sonic quality does not suffer for it.  The playback is breathtaking and the instrumental that closes this classic is a prime example of that.  Real power and no distortion on the top end, superb!  This is Mint in every sense of the word.  What an album!

In summary this first pressing plays to an unbelievable standard with no background.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is comparable to a record pressed yesterday not 48 years ago!  Then again if a vinyl has hardly been played and well preserved why shouldn't it play 'as new'?  This one certainly does!  This is another FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing up for auction here and would add to any high end collection.

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

 This cover is in excellent condition with only very minimal wear.  The top edges have barely any rubbing and the bottom edges are very clean also.  The wide spine is superb with only light wear on the bottom corner and the other corners have no obvious wear at all.  The die-cut front cover has just one small 'nick' near the bottom edge and the 'opening' is very clean with only the bare minimum of creasing on the lower edge.  The back cover is as close to perfect as is possible with just one tiny crease near the top edge and the inside of the gatefold has only light creasing on the lower section of the die-cut area.  The right hand panel is immaculate without any marking.  A fine example overall.

The original poly-lined 'Plastic Bags...' inner is in great shape with no side splits or tears and barely any marking.  It just has a small punch hole in the top left corner and minimal creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
