I don't know which Thin Lizzy "Shades Of A Blue Orphanage" is the very first original Decca Records TXS 108. I was convinced it was this color label (see picture - what would you call this... dark gray?) by the kreation records website. They list this color label at $149.99 (US Dollars) and call it the very first pressing. Then I saw a slightly bluer (lighter and greener) label sell recently on Ebay and they said that that color was the first issue. And, also on Ebay, I recently saw a bright green label sell for over a hundred bucks and they claimed that THEY had the original issue.

 I AM NOT GOING TO CLAIM THAT THIS IS THE VERY FIRST DECCA ISSUE OF THIS RECORD.
I will, however, show you the above label and tell you that it was pressed in 1972, it was made in the  UK, the matrix numbers: side 1 - ZAL-11209 P 2 / side 2 - ZAL-11210 P 3. I will also tell you that the inner sleeve is the original DECCA inner sleeve, lined with plastic and featuring the hole on one side and the "IMPORTANT NOTICE" writing about STEREO Vs. MONO records. So, it's from 1972 for sure. Also. I bought the entire Thin Lizzy catalog about fifteen years ago from a guy I used to work with and I know that the other Lizzy records he sold me he bought when they were released back in the 70's. That said, he was American so this import he may have purchased later in life. And, also, he's dead now, so I can't ask him.

Anyway, it's old. It's beautiful. And it's for sale.

CONDITION: VISUALLY GRADED ONLY.

The Cover?  NICE. Not Perfect, but Nice. The gatefold cover is in VG condition (some very minor corner and spine wear and the "IMPORT" sticker on the front cover.) See photograph. The spine kind of looks cracked in the photograph but it IS NOT CRACKED. I'm a lousy photographer.  Really lousy.

The Vinyl?  BEAUTIFUL! Very slight markings from sliding in and out of the sleeve, but it's the original Decca lined sleeve so the wear and tear was minimal. The record is in VG to VG+ condition. I've never played it and I'm waiting on a new cartridge to arrive so I'm not playing anything. Anyway, it looks SWEET.

GRADING: My Grading System. Not perfect but I'm as honest as I can be. Please remember, I'm fussy but usually only VISUALLY GRADE. If I think a record looks unplayed, I won't play it! SS -- Still Sealed - in factory-fresh condition M Mint -- Unsealed but never played, cover perfect. Don't use much. M- Mint Minus -- Almost perfect record, not factory sealed but probably unplayed. The vinyl would be completely scuff, mark free. Alot of indie and import singles were never sealed when they were new but might still be unplayed and perfect. VG+ Very Good Plus. -- My personal records are VG+. I'm fussy, I baby my records and that's what I call VG+. A record that has been played but taken care of, like a baby. VG Very Good -- A used, reasonable copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or low volume parts. This is an excellent record that will satisfy most buyers but has OBVIOUSLY BEEN PLAYED. VG- Very Good Minus -- significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise but still worth owning for some reason: possibly super rare, great picture sleeve... G+ Good Plus -- MY LOWEST GRADE FOR RECORDS I SELL!!! In the record world, 'Good' is not good! From here on down (Fair, Poor, whatever), are beat up and possibly unplayable beat-up records. I don't sell anything I would grade under G+ unless it's for the picture sleeve only or an incredibly collectible record.
