Three Man Army : A Third Of A Lifetime A-1U / B-1U 1st Press 1971 Pegasus
This classic first pressing plays to an incredible standard with barely any background. A couple of tracks have only minimal light static on a couple of intros and the clarity, depth and power of the audio on both sides is sensational. This is obviously a record that has hardly been played and the vinyl itself is stunning with no spindle wear which backs up that theory. Not quite a final upgrade but very close to it! There are so many highlights but it's worth buying this LP just for 'Together' the final track on S2. It's a superb track.
This is another gem from this era and I knew the Gurvitz / Curtis name rang a bell. They used to be in Gun before setting up this band and I have to say I prefer this album.
The gatefold is in superb condition with only the bare minimum of insignificant wear and has retained its original shape and structure so well. The original poly-lined Plastic Bags... inner sleeve is also in superb shape.

Visual description
The vinyl is visually stunning and still has a jet-black glossy sheen with no obvious marks or scratches. S1 has a couple of tiny faint blemished but they are not easy to find! Under a bright light I cannot locate any hairlines which is such a rarity and the Pegasus labels are in perfect condition with no marking or spindle wear. A beautiful example of this rare LP!
Play Grading
The percussive intro on 'Butter Queen' is perfect and the guitar section is equally as strong. Adrian Gurvitz's opening vocal has no background and it continues to play with exceptional power and depth. The mid instrumental mainly featuring Gurvitz again but ably supported by his brother Paul on bass is immense! The clarity, power and definition of the audio is phenomenal and there is no distortion. The remainder is flawless and the entire track is underpinned by superb work from Buddy Miles of course. A stunning Mint start to the album.
The quiet intro and opening vocal on 'Daze' has a little static but it isn't loud and then the first guitar section plays without fault. The next vocal is nigh on perfect and thereafter plays with impeccable quality. The audio is so clean and 'fresh' and if the opening section is Ex then the rest is Mint- for sure. Incredible guitar work again.
'Another Way' plays with stunning precision through every vocal and instrumental section, not bad for a near 7 minute track. From start to finish it is sonically so strong and powerful, it could not play with any greater precision. Even the quieter passage towards the end has no background and the long fade out has only a couple of statics right at the end when you can barely hear the music. I am confident in saying this classic grades as Mint
The quiet acoustic intro on 'A Third Of A Lifetime' has hardly any static and as the strings join in the playback is stunning. This instrumental continues in the same way - as per any clean vinyl each note is so precise, you miss nothing. A beautiful version. A Near Mint- intro and Mint from then onwards.
Back to their usual rock sound and 'Nice One' plays with superb audio throughout. Miles on bass this time and his sound is so deep and resonant. Once again every section plays with incredible depth and clarity and Mint is very much deserved. Gurvitz certainly knew how to play the guitar!

The intro on 'Three Man Army' plays perfectly and the opening vocal is just as impressive. The first melodic vocal is 'as new' and that applies to the entire track! There is definitely more of a 'pop feel' here but with with a strong rock guitar sound, they combine so well. There are a couple of barely audible ticks just after the mid instrumental and the 'heavy' conclusion is stunning. Mint-
'Agent Man' once more shows just how infrequently this vinyl has been played and how well looked after it has been. From the first note to the last it plays with sublime precision and the depth and warmth of the audio is of the highest calibre, not forgetting the clarity and power also. Mint
The high octane intro on 'See What I Took' plays with stunning power and depth and the first vocal is flawless. This track flips from the very melodic to the very heavy and it plays fantastically well! It could not play any better and the classic riff sections are outstanding, what a superb track! Mint- but only because of a couple of minor statics on the fade out.
I do not wish to sound repetitive but 'Midnight' plays with such precision through every section and again the deep bass sound stands out again. I thought it was Miles again but no he's on the organ this time! There is no background at all and the sonic quality can honestly be described 'as new'. Mint- again.
The quiet intro on 'Together' plays so clearly with only minimal light static at the start, nothing intrusive, and the gentle opening vocal then plays perfectly with zero background. From then on it plays with superb audio and I only noticed a couple of mega quiet statics. A handful of minor statics during the brief quiet mid instrumental and then the 'heavier' section plays with STUNNING quality. Has to plays loud the sonic quality is out of this world! The next quiet passage plays beautifully without any background and the vocal ending plays with tremendous depth and warmth and again there is no interference. This is a SUPERB track and a fitting conclusion to a gem of an album. Near Mint is richly deserved.
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in superb condition with very little wear and certainly nothing obvious. The top edges are near perfect and the bottom edges have only some light rubbing towards the corners. The wide spine is so clean with only the bare minimum of wear on the corners and the right hand corners are in excellent shape also. The opening edge has just one small section of 'feathering' and the front cover is stunning with no marking or creasing. The back cover is very clean with only a couple of minor spots, a couple of fingerprint type marks and a minor amount of ringwear near the top. You can see that small amount of feathering by the left edge also. The inside of the gatefold is so close to perfect with only a little spotting along the top edge. A superb example though and very close to Near Mint- I would say.
The poly-lined Plastic Bags... inner sleeve is in great condition with no side splits or tears, hardly any marking and very little creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
