INFO : The Differentials hailed from Ipswich (as did some others from that era : The Upsets, Dumb Show, Limited Life, Resistance, The Fits/La Fetts and The Kremlin) and played around locally and Brisbane from 1978 to 1983.
Their set consisted of a couple Ramones covers and very early Cure but mostly were a kind of Post-Punk / New Wavish - Punk outfit that slotted in appreciatively with the rowdy punters.
In 1981 the band recorded a self-penned 3 track EP to be titled ‘Thriving Metropolis’ and sent it off to EMI Custom for what was usually a small run in those days. As can happen someone stuffed the process up in leaving the bands’ name off both labels so, to avoid confusion, the group simply changed their name from ‘The Differentials’ to ‘Thriving Metropolis’ for a few years.
This quite tidy rare 3 track, and only vinyl relic, while not up to the status of say The Upsets, has still great raw, even OI! punk-ish factor that is so typical of the early 80’s Brisbane band scene …. and is rare as rockin’ horse poo these days as well.
CONDITION: Note : All records (except where Mint) have been vacuum-machine cleaned and fully played on a quality system to determine an accurate grading.
This item will be safely packed and includes a new outer plastic cover.
Vinyl : Very Good. Some light marks on both sides of no audible concern. Visually it still retains heaps of gloss which is reflected in the bright and clear playback. Tracks through great with a clean sound throughout. Minor lead in/out noise noticeable before & after the band kicks in and nothing detrimental. Rated VG+ and will not disappoint.
LABELS : Clean as per photos above.
SLEEVE : Plain generic cover in excellent condition. No marks. No splits.
