Hi, I am Mike, I am 46 and have been a music collector and enthusiast for over 33 years now. We all wish we could turn back the clock and buy those wonderful brand new records from the 60s and 70s, but alas, this is not possible; so I always try to offer the finest and most accurately described and graded records I can find. No vinyl/music lover really would choose to buy second-hand, but this is only way now to own these valuable, prized and ellusive items now. I pride myself on offering a variety of genres to keep my site as interesting as possible. I will rarely offer any record that falls below a true Excellent grading, unless its of a certain rarity which will justify offering a lesser grade. I try, to the best of my ability to describe as accurately and as honesty as I can all items I offer for sale with all the relevant information I can think of to help any potential bidder and collector. You may notice I only submit records sparingly on Ebay - on average ONEADAY, hence the name - time rarely allows for more as I Play-Grade virtually every record I offer in their entirity, not just bits to guess a grade (on a Rega 3 deck with Ortofon cartridge) - visuals alone do not always tell a true or full story - I will mention any defects or flaws no matter how small that I notice to be fair as possible to any interested reader – I am very fussy and my buyers have the right to be too. Every record I offer, whether it be a common or rare item deserves the same respect as far as I am concerned and will be treated the same - just because an item is rare does not always mean its good. I get just as much pleasure offering a relatively common record in stunning near mint condition as the real rare items. All the pictures I use for your guidance are taken with a digital camera or scanned - they are NOT improved, cleaned-up or made better looking than they are with camera trickery or enhancing with digital programmes. What you see is what you get. The only thing I cannot guarantee one hundred percent is exact colour matching - this depends on the lighting at the time and that is out of my control, but I feel sure most items will be very close to the actual real item. Variation can sometimes occur too in colour of the label scans and labels taken next to the sleeve with a digital camera, the scanned full label pictures should be the most accurate. If any picture I take looks more flattering than the actual item for any reason, I will clearly state the fact in the advert. Label/Cat Number/Type: Industrial Records IR0008. Stereo.

Label Condition: Mint and beautiful clean examples that show only the odd, faint and light spindle trace, to be honest I can see hardly any at all. This stunning copy looks hardly played. (Please see label scan for all information needed).

Country of Manufacture: Great Britain.

Original Year of Release: 1979

Rarity: Very Rare Indeed, this album is the very first pressing and only 5000 exist with the original matrix numbers (please see next paragraph). Included with just 2000 of this initial first pressing was the poster of the band outside KFJC Radio Stations in San Jose, California. (Please see the poster picture). This title was recut again on 30-11-79 and the new matrix numbers and messages were: AIR008 A2 and B2. ‘RECUT 30-33-79’ and ‘AH POOK WAS HERE’. Any early Industrial pressing of TG albums are rare anyway. Even the repressings were very limited but the first pressings are getting near impossible to find. 5000 copies of any record available to world is a tiny, even privately pressed obscure albums were sometimes pressed in similar amounts. And now with this quartet’s music being revaluated they are fast becoming highly collectable and sort after. The final icing on the cake is this copy had been played once: a curious hi-fi buff bought this on a whim while thumbing through records back in 79, the contents were not to his taste, the set was put into a rack with many other records and simply left there never to be played again. This is a mint copy, the poster was left unobserved, I dont think the owner even knew it was inside!

Matrix Nos: IR 0008+ and 0008+B (these were the very first pressed matrix numbers)

Brief Artist & Album Info: Emerging around the same time as Punk Rock, this infamous band’s music was far more revolutionary. They made a sound like no other at this time, or probably since. Their ‘music’ was very angry, even ugly, it was designed to counterpoint the squalor and cruelty they saw in late-20th century city life. Very uncommercial, the number of records pressed reflected in the number they probably expected to sell, although they were later repressed in the same small numbers. They were derided or ignored by the music press. Airplay was probably zero, even John Peel did not play their music. They only made three studio albums, this being the third, although their catalogue is vast as they recorded all of their live gigs. Their output, as stated is very limited, rarely seen and very collectable. This album, dont be fooled by the spoof title, is another dark album, that said this is easily the most accessible record they ever made, and for them, even slightly commercial. The usual subject-matter is covered: death, pornography, disease, sex, injury, suicide, despair and a bad day at the office? (‘What a Day’ - with its ugly electronic riff has to be heard). Now this may all sound totally unlistenable to most readers of this advert, but I would totally disagree - this groundbreaking quartet had something to say and did not hold back. They had their ideas about the bad things in life and simply put them to music. Their live work was far more severe with levels of intensity that few other bands or artists ever match, chaos often reined. This studio album is actually very easy to listen too and even includes four gentle electronic instrumentals not dissimilar to Tangerine Dream. Music soundscapes are created with use of strange instruments and sampling including female member, Cosey Fanni Tutti playing cornet - this creates some unearthly eerie sounds. Led by Genesis P-Orridge, who later formed Psychic TV, strong contender for the world’s most miserable man, his vocals were capable of making the blood run cold. The full line up were: Chris Carter: Roland synthesisers, sequencers, rhythms and vocals; Peter Christopherson: Tape, vibes, cornet and vocals. Genesis P-Orridge: Bass guitars, violin, vibes, synthesiser and vocals and Cosey Fanni Tutti: Satellite lead guitar, gizmo guitar, synthesiser, cornet and vocals. This band and album are not for the faint hearted but have an addictive quality and actually become very likable. I have to confess to being a fan right from the early days and was one of the few owners of the 5-album box set that actually made it to my local record shop in Colchester back in College days (a copy of this box set will be offered in the near future). This copy is near mint and has now been played twice, once by me for grading. Even the delicate cover is near perfect, its prone to chipping and the poster is mint and unmounted, it must rank as one of musics’ rarest poster inserts, the actual LP is hardly common either and finding any copy is becoming rare (first issues are very ellusive indeed), this pink label copy is the genuine first issue, it almost certainly sold out almost immediately and was re-cut again in the same year (still a rare item too). For those who have never heard this daring and pioneering band, there is no better place to get a taste of Throbbing Gristle.

Cover Grade and Format: Mint(-), easily the very best I have ever seen, single format, non-laminate and has a more matt finish, the second issued cover were more semi-gloss.

Cover Front: Superb, the famous Beachy Head cover. This is very clean with just the faintest hint of a light press mark at the very top. A couple of tiny creases that remain invisible unless searched for, bar that the perfect front.

Cover Back: Similar to front, no chipping or ring wear. The odd faint mark if viewing under angled light but this back is unlikely to ever be found better.

Top Edge: Unworn.

Bottom Edge: Unworn up the final centimeter towards the right corner where there is a faint rub trace.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Clean, sharp with no wear or feathering. Record entered on right outside edge.

Spine and Text: Solid and square with no wear, text is perfect and unworn.

Corners: All four are almost perfect, white tips if being critical. All still nicely shaped.

Cover Summary: Probably the best all round example of this rare late 70’s cover that will ever be offered. This strong item should please all collectors.

Poster: Pure pristine mint, unmounted of course and taking my picture of this was probably the first time it has been taken out of the cover or even unfolded.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: Mint, this is justified here. An immaculate copy that appears virtually unmarked. Super clean and shiny, and jet black, try finding this major rarity better. Visually a stunning record that should please all collectors. It comes in its original plain unlined inner (Mint).

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This super record plays up to its high visual grading with little to fault. Strong, undistorted sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear. A very fine pressing too, any surface sounds are minimal indeed, there are some very quiet moments on this record but most, if not all play near silent. Both channels are clean and clear as you would expect from such a lightly played record. It has clearly been well stored and looked after, definitely by a non-smoker. Little, if anything spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this unique album. A rare copy that will prove near impossible to find significantly better.

Final Summary: Throbbing Gristle were pioneers of the modern industrial sound, this was their label and they were in total control of what they put out, and they did not hold back. Genesis P-Orridge stated on a later album, ‘this is a campaign, it has nothing to do with art’ he felt the mission was over within three albums, there was nothing else to say. Love of loathe them, they were original and with an open mind and ear, they are rewarding - be afraid, very afraid – Mike.

All records are sent in plastic covers with the record taken OUT of the sleeve and sent in professional mailers with FOUR professional stiffners for extra protection (if space allows), I do NOT use old cardboard boxes or cereal packets for protection. More expensive items are also inserted into a de-luxe heavy duty padded bag AS WELL to give that extra protection. I truly want ALL my items to arrive to their destination in the same condition they leave me. I will also include in most cases a brand new lined inner, but will include the original inner if available and in a condition to be worthwhile.
