THROBBING GRISTLE - 24 HOURS (ORIGINAL BOX SET - BRIEFCASE WITH 26 CASSETTES & 6 INSERTS)

INDUSTRIAL 24-HOURS UK 1980 26 X C60 cassettes

This is the incredibly scarce original  box set of 26 Throbbing Gristle cassettes in a black briefcase. Contains 23 live and 3 cassettes of recordings made at the studios of Industrial Records limited. There are around 200 of these all individually numbered (this is #116 supplied to "Kevin Combs"). Top collectible of the punk new wave and industrial synth era, and certainly the most sought after original item of Throbbing Gristle and Industrial label.

Tapes A and B are unique to this box set ("supplied only with the box set 24 Hours of Throbbing Gristle" - see photos) and their covers have a blank square in front (in another briefcase these 2 have a hand-made collage on them).

The 6 inserts are:

1. The Throbbing Gristle intro-sheet with original signatures of all members and original numbering of the box set (#116), plus handwritten numbers '23' and '3' for the live and studio cassettes respectively. The artwork on this insert is a hand-made collage glued on the right-top quarter of the insert.

2.3.4. Three colored photos-artworks, one is signed by all members (original signatures), and one is signed by Genesis P. Orridge (original signature). The 3rd one is not signed. They look like silk-screened but it might be the quality of colored copies back then (you can see the rear of them where the color has 'watered' and shows).

5.6. Are 2 promo photos of the band.

The condition is overal excellent, the briefcase has some wear but in general this is the best condition you can find, well-preserved and kept in a box with bubble-wrap.

Limited to approximately 200 sets, with 60 going to Japan.
Each set is personalized to the buyer and dated. Each copy is unique with hand-made collages on each of the primary (signed) information card. The sleeves for IRC A and IRC B (which were only available in this box set) were also hand made. Each set also came with three color-copied inserts (color copies were very expensive and rare in 1980 when these were made). One featured an informal shot of the band while another was a collage by G P-O of the proposed "Industrial Records HQ". Copies also contained 2 full-sized b&w original photos: one a classic press shot and the other an informal image of the band being interviewed (by a small radio station in US).
Box sets often varied in contents between each other as they were supposed to contain the "most recent twenty four tapes" (quoted from the mail-order catalog). Thus early buyers (low numbered copies) would get tapes IRC2 to IRC25 while later buyers would get later tapes. The 1980/81 Industrial Records catalog stated that buyers would get IRC5 to IRC26 + IRC29/30/33 (note that IRC31 was by Clock DVA and and IRC32 was by Chris Carter hence not included in this set).
Note that IRC1, "Best Of ... Volume II", was a collection of live and studio recordings, note there never was a Best Of ... Volume I until much later, which was (initially) a bootleg as IRC00.
