THROBBING GRISTLE
" The Second Annual Report of Throbbing Gristle "
1978 12" full-length VINYL LP with original INSERT
(This was the 1st edition, limited to 2000 copies, of the repressing of the Industrial Records LP. They made 2000 of them and destroyed the master copies. So only THIS PRESSING and THE ORIGINAL PRESSING OF 785 COPIES are from the original masters. If you're a collector and looking for purity, I guess one of these or one of the originals is the only way to hear what they intended you to hear. )
This record was originally released in an edition of less than 1000 for mostly monetary reasons. Finding an original copy of that version will cost you many hundreds generally. Most copies will cost you a good bit of cash. This is a beautiful copy, that comes with an insert (the next version didn't), and slightly different art & other little things. The record labels (on the actual vinyl) on this, the 1st edition repress had one side with the red/black lightning logo on one side, and a white label with info on the other. Also the COOM TRANSMISSION misspelling was still on the cover and record label.
On the bottom of the rear cover of this one, it tells you that it was originally released on Industrial Records, and the FETISH RECORDS logo is white on black printing, mocking the look of something printed from one of those old-fashioned tape guns. There is NO gigantic text at the top of the rear cover with the album title on it, and the address of the Fetish Records offices is different.
Throbbing Gristle was Chris Carter, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Lord Peter Christopherson, Genesis P-Orridge. The latter two went on to Psychic TV, and P. Christopherson did Coil, Sickness of Snakes. The second side is the original soundtrack of the COUM Transmissions (or COOM Transmission as it says on the record label) film titled After Cease To Exist.
The record/vinyl is NM and has never actually been played on a turntable. The cover, even being 31 years old (over 3 decades)is in wonderful condition. If you've never held the original pressings of these LPs in your hands, you don't know the differences in the paper. The paper stock used for this version of the LP is only semi-glossy, and is a much lighter paper stock than the next pressing. This has very minor edgewear and a couple of dings, but is at LEAST EX.
The insert has the info from the rear of the original (see our other auctions for the Celluloid pressing) with surrounding ephemera. It is EX.

Throbbing Gristle are a British industrial music and visual arts group that evolved from the performance art group COUM Transmissions. The band consists of Genesis P-Orridge (bass, violin, vocals), Cosey Fanni Tutti (guitars, cornet), Peter Christopherson (aka "Sleazy") (tapes, found sounds, horns), and Chris Carter (synthesizer).
The Second Annual Report is a landmark release by industrial music pioneers Throbbing Gristle. The album is a combination of live and studio songs. The album was originally released on 12" vinyl in 1977 and pressed to CD, with additional tracks, in 1991.
The vinyl edition enjoyed several different pressings. Industrial Records's original pressing had 785 copies, while Fetish Records pressed 2000 copies. Fetish would press the album twice more after the original Industrial Records master plates were destroyed; the third edition was included in the five album Throbbing Gristle box set and was recut to play backwards and had a chamber orchestra added to "After Cease to Exist". The Fetish plates were reused to cut pressings made by Mute Records and Celluloid Records (the latter of which was released without the band's permission.)

Sorry about my hand in the shots, (if it is), but I try to NEVER LAY THE VINYL DOWN ON ANYTHING, unlike lots of sellers, who FREAKIN' lay records down on tables and things to photograph them! We give them all the very clean hand or WHITE GLOVE TREATMENT, as you see in the photos, and take the pics with someone holding the vinyl in the air, never touching it, pulling it carefully from its sleeve. Whatever we sell you is going to be in the best shape possible. We're all collectors and know that other collectors appreciate the extra mile. I mean, there may be a smoker in the building, but he doesn't blow it into the records, and we handle them as if they might explode! (Although they won't, postal person, we promise)

This is a vinyl record, NOT A CD. You play it on a turntable. That's an arcane device that spins plastic around and around at a constant speed and a diamond on the end of a stick scrapes at it and makes noise that you hopefully enjoy.
