expect some demonic instrumental moves on this programmatic Psych Exploitation effort! 'Distortions Pop' was masterminded by H. Tical aka Armando Sciascia known for having released Library recordings on the Vedette label in the late 60s. musically speaking, it has all ingredients to make openminded ears feel happy: from hard-proggy Acid Funk Rock ('Metamorphosis', 'Microchaos', 'Diodo'), spacey soundtrack stylish moods ('Equilibrium', 'Equivalence'), strange harpischord-led waltzy beats ('Compression') to abstract mental soundscapes ('Psycho-Nebuleux'). several trippy workouts on keyboard produce lots of weird sirens-like electronic effects and a heavily distorted fuzz guitar adds a dark thrilling horror feel to many of the tunes (very much in the vein of Goblin). the rhythm structures are complex with many changes in tempi and style due to some excellent experimental drumming. watch out for the evil, speaker-destroying opener 'Diodo', arguably the strongest cut on the album highlightning infectious fuzz guitars over psychotic uptempo rhythm beats. 'Distortions Pop' was released in Library format on the tiny Italian Spider label as well as in France on Sonimage. usually easier to get by, it was also issued in the UK on the private Kaleiodoscope label along with Ugly Custard's LP and a different cover. Some of the tracks were used in Jess Franco's 'Le Journal Intime D'une Nymphomane' (aka ‚Diary Of A Nymphomaniac') to underscore the disco, drug abuse and sex sequences! a good choice as Sciascia's electronically distorted Progressive Funk provides just the right score, but on the other hand: beware! this is definetly nothing for weak nerves!
