Buckley's 1966 debut was the most straightforward and folk-rock-oriented of his albums. The material has a lyrical and melodic sophistication that was astounding for a 19-year-old. The pretty, almost precious songs are complemented by appropriately baroque, psychedelic-tinged production. If there was a record that exemplified the '60s Elektra folk-rock sound, this may have been it, featuring production by Elektra owner Jac Holzman and Doors producer Paul Rothchild, Love and Doors engineer Bruce Botnick, and string arrangements by Jack Nitzsche. That's not to diminish the contributions of the band, which included his longtime lead guitarist Lee Underwood and Van Dyke Parks on keyboards. Buckley was still firmly in the singer-songwriter camp on this album, showing only brief flashes of the experimental vocal flights, angst-ridden lyrics, and soul influences that would characterize much of his later work. It's not his most adventurous outing, but it's one of his most accessible, and retains a fragile beauty.

(EXCERPT FROM AN ONLINE REVIEW BY RICHIE UNTERBERGER, ALL MUSIC GUIDE  /ALLMUSIC.COM/)

Here it is, in all its Morning Glory: one of the harder-to-find Tim Buckley albums, the rare first pressing of his first album, ("Tim Buckley", released in 1966). This is the album that introduced Tim Buckley to the world at large, and that led to his friendship with, among other people, George Harrison. The material is vintage west coast pre-psych folk, with a Bucklean twist, a kind of cross between early Byrds and Fred Neil, moody, brooding and delicate. If you have not experienced 60’s firsthand, this is the album which will probably evoke them much better than any other album in existence. Some of the songs are my personal perennial favorites: The hypnotic, "Song Slowly song" the beautiful "Song for Jainie", and many, many others. This is a translucent, impressionistic mix of voices, arrangements and guitars that you can continue to explore and never stop being amazed by its intricacy and intelligence. And then, there is this wonderful multi-octave range voice, which is a force of nature! The album is truly a masterpiece. The sound is very warm and friendly stereo mix, with delicate passages nuanced and organically balanced between the channels. A genuine piece of rock, folk and pre-psych history. Track listing: I Can't See You - Wings - Song Of The Magician - Strange Street Affair Under Blue - Valentine Melody - Aren't You The Girl - Song Slowly Song - It Happens Every Time - Song For Jainie - Grief In My Soul - She Is - Understand Your Man

·                               CONDITION:

·                               THE RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant). For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·                               THE COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging   (nothing significant).

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (nothing significant)

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the bottom seam (nothing significant)

NO OTHER VISIBLE FLAWS AND IMPERFECTIONS ON THE  COVER
