The year was 1976. After becoming disenchanted with the Rational Culture, motive power of Tim Maia Rational Volume 1 and Volume 2, the master nose dipped again in the pleasures of life. On this record, Tim Maia and the Victoria Regia bring the best blend of groove with soul samba, the house specialty.
Dance while you can, the first track on the disc and shows the weather to come. "See if you let this sadness, animal / Get the lady and come dance / To me that was that, animal / decided'll let me." Following the positivist line, you have to love charms as lysergic ballad, heating the good ears and good thoughts for the songs that are on the way.
Meanwhile, across the ocean from Rio de Janeiro, some African countries went through a troubled period of racial segregation and violence. After saying that in Guinea Bissau, Mozambique and Angola were all in good, Tim sings his support for their colored brethren, asking struggle and resistance ("I know you're sound / You are not to kill / But do not go let it go") . Rhodesia (former name of the nation now called Zimbabwe) brings Tim playing the flute and an inspired sound of the band Victoria Regia.
The fourth disc pearl is a first-funk with remnants of rational ingredients. Marcio Leonardo and Telmo, which give name to the band, are respectively Leo Maia and Carmelo Maia, children of the Receiver. To this seroma (initial Sebastião Rodrigues Maia), where their children "come to play", Tim was the seal.
Following two stones! Sentimental brings all the emotional weight of Tim Maia, opening his defenses in a groove with the seal of quality Royal Victoria. Nobody Can Live Forever can be considered the shadow of the hymn Immunization Rational. All his frustration with the Rational sect and religious beliefs are expressed in these verses that say that no one can live forever, and that, in his opinion, that heaven and hell talk is complete nonsense.
In me wrong, Tim sings the disappointment of a love that is over and the end of dreams and plans created on someone else. The next track is an appetizer for the sensational 1978 disc, "What's going on" Tim Maia. Florida sun in the morning, full of wonderful things is one of the greatest declarations of love to life I've ever heard. With an arrangement that reaches the bottom of the soul, Tim manages to faithfully translate the climate of hope and joy you feel when you're in love the bright side of life.
The ninth track on the disc is the "gospel unlike" Brother, Father, Sister and Mother, where Tim asks his brothers to wake up and stop wasting your time in churches and beliefs of any kind. The next song is just great! Potato Chip, the Bicycle Thief is a groove apparently nonsense that takes us on a trip to the 70 For better understanding of the message, it is noteworthy that the "bicycle" mentioned in the song is a famous brand of LSD.
In the last track of this album, which is one of my three favorite Tim, The Dance is Over closes the show. As the saying goes, the dance is over and it's time to face reality. A soul samba respect, guitar distortion and all have right, ending one of the great works of the Receiver.
