SELF-TITLED/COIL

4 TONES TO FACILITATE TRAVEL THROUGH TIME

ESKATON 028 - UNPLAYED!

 Rare, double vinyl copy of the landmark 1998 drone album by Coil, under the alias of Time Machines.

It consists of four tracks which are composed of a single tone/drone, each representing a certain hallucinogenic chemical. For instance, 'Telepathine'

is an early term for the compound found in Ayahuasca or yage, popularised by Burroughs and Ginsberg. Each tone was repeatedly tested in the

 studio for maximum narcotic potency and band member/founder, John Balance, described the album as an attempt to create 'temporal slips'.

Personnel on the album: Jhon Balance, Drew McDowell, Peter Christopherson. Credits to: Thighpaulsandra, Bill Breeze, Louise Buxton,

Steven Stapleton, David Tibet and Ann & Alex Shulgin. Quote on sleeve from Julian Cope.

Sleeve: A great front image of a glossy, black oval that, allegedly, alludes to the obsidian 'scrying mirror of Renaissance magician and astronomer,

John Dee, who supposedly used the stone to conjure spirits.The thick card gatefold is unmarked and undamaged!

Inner Sleeves: Colourful picture bags which are intact, unmarked and as-new!

Labels: Other than a couple of marks on the 'Smell of...' label which were there when I bought the album from World Serpent

(manufacturing fault?), all are intact and unmarked!

 

This is just one item from my own extensive and eclectic personal collection of music and related bits and pieces which I will be listing over the next few months, or so.

I have been collecting for more than 30 years, so check back regularly to see what other gems I may have unearthed - they won't be listed in any particular order!

All vinyl will be packaged in sturdy cardboard mailers with at least one stiffener and will be despatched within 2 working days of payment being received.
