TIMOTHY LEARY & ASH RA TEMPEL Seven Up (Ohr/Kosmische Kuriere KK 58001) German 1st Pressing + Insert! MINT-
Original very RARE German first pressing of "Seven Up" by Timothy Leary & Ash Ra Tempel, released on Ohr Records (February 1973). Cover art by famed Swiss gypsy painter and poet ("Tarot", with Ash Ra Tempel) Walter Wegmüller.

By autumn 1972, "political fugitive" Timothy Leary had fled the United States for Switzerland, fighting his extradition to the US on (trumped-up) drug charges. During this half-year in Swiss exile (and before his eventual FBI arrest - in Afghanistan, no less!), Leary was courted by German psychedelic impresario Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser and his Ohr label devotees. The album "Seven Up", Leary`s only musical statement, was the result.

"Seven Up" was recorded in Bern, Switzerland in late 1972 and featured an expanded line-up of Berlin krautrockers Ash Ra Tempel. This included a host of back-up singers, as well as famed engineer/producer Dieter Dierks on synthesizer. Legend also has it that all twenty-three of Switzerland`s hippies were in attendance at the recording sessions...

GRADING:
VG++ COVER. Original gatefold sleeve with a few creases along top and bottom edges, as well as to the spine. Please see photos for details.
MINT- RECORD. Even when viewed under bright light, the record has only a few lightest hairlines from sleeve removal. A small tick on side two (some minutes into "Time") causes a few consecutive light clicks.

Notoriously difficult to find in decent condition, this is an otherwise impeccable copy with uniformly excellent audio even in quiet passages.

The original inner sleeve, also included, is date-stamped "2.73", clearly denoting a very first pressing of "Seven Up" issued in February 1973.

MINT- INSERT. This copy of "Seven Up" also includes the very rare Leary-penned insert, essentially a pamphlet advocating the "Seven Up" listening experience whilst on LSD. More often than not, this insert is missing.
