mono US Original (3) 78rpm Album Pressing*
(one of the records from this set is missing* though)
and this copy comes with its very rare illustrated insert
with liner notes, lyrics & drawings by Tiny Clark that
illustrate how to do the various dances contained here
(and the back features a listing of early Asch releases)
and the cover features wonderful illustrated artwork by
David Stone Martin & the records contain great country
Square Dances & Reels with Tiny Clark as the Caller
and Mrs. Siller on Piano and Mr. Siller on Fiddle

Tiny Clark was famous for his performances at a
New York venue called The Village Barn and the Sillers
hailed from Upstate New York and the backing music
here is excellent with fiddle and acoustic piano

~ condition ~


records are in Excellent Condition and have all
been fully play tested and they sound great without
any skips, repeats or bad noise & just typical 78rpm
surface noise & the records are shiny & clean with only
light visual wear that doesn't interfere with the sound
and the labels are shiny & clean as well

and as previously mentioned, this was released
as a 3 record set, but is missing* the third record

cover (album) is in Very Good Condition with bold
bright printing & has a nice intact spine (but the printing
is faded) but the cover does have a bit of wear to the
edges & corners and also has some pencil markings and
one with marker on the front cover & the sleeve pages
inside are also worn-through the bottom centers

the booklet insert is in nice shape but does
have some light creasing in places

displays ok & plays well

~ David Stone Martin ~


illustrator David Stone Martin was one of the most prolific
and influential graphic designers of the postwar era, creating
over 400 mostly Jazz Lp Covers with a hand-drawn style that
perfectly captured the energy & spontaneity of the  idiom. He
was from Chicago & studied at the Art Institute of Chicago
and began his career assisting social realist painter Ben Shahn
designing murals for the 1933 World's Fair & then became the
TVA art director & also worked as an artist for Life Magazine
during WW II until later entering the music biz through his
longtime friendship with Norman Granz designing covers for
his Verve & Down Home & Norgran Clef  record labels as well as
hundreds of other album covers and is the most famous and
collected artist of all jazz era and his work has exhibited at
Metropolitan Museum of Art and at MOMA in New York
