Description
Vintage Historic Rare TKE (Tau Kappa Epsilon) Fraternity "New Loyalty Song." Recorded live. Pressed on a 10" inch record that plays at 78 rpm. Record has some lines and plays with background noise. There is no date on the record but 78 rpm records began about 1898 and were basically finished by the 1950s.
This may well be a one-of-a-kind piece of TKE history.
This extremely rare live record begins with an announcer introducing the new song to be sung by TKE Men's Vocal Choir as singing a "new almamater loyalty song." The song seems to have been recorded live at an old Panhellenic Conference, which was The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), founded in 1902, is an umbrella organization for 26 (inter)national women's sororities. The song is contained on both sides of the record and refers to the 'TKE Sweethart' often, so this seems to make sense.
The labels read "Audiodisc Recording Blank - New York, USA" on both sides.
The following is written in pencil on side one of the label... "TKE - Panhell Sing - Part 1."
The Following is written on side two of the label in pencil... "TKE 2. Part 2."
The announcer gives info on the writing of the new song's lyrics in his short introduction. It was written by a member of "this chapter." The announcer doesn't say which chapter it is. Amazing TKE history.
NOTE: There is blank space at the beginning of each side and the needle doesn't track the initial grooves. You must manually place the needle where the program starts which is slightly into the grooves.
