This is the seriously rare original pressing of the eponymous Toad album from 1972, one of the holy grail's for collectors of Prog-Rock and psych! With genuine first issue vinyl in such brilliant condition, this melodic rarity with its buckets of heavy prog-guitar parts can really be enjoyed with the kind of stunning loud and clear audio that Toad would have first intended. VINYL CONDITION

This very well cared for record has managed to keep a fantastic glistening, deep and glossy appearance and has to grade as the strongest possible Excellent. There are no bad marks or scratches, there are no marks on the label and overall it is a record that looks absolutely superb. A close visual inspection under strong light shows a few light paper scuffs and brush marks, these are not serious and do not effect the quality of the sound at all, they are a minor point although they are the primary factor in my grade. The spindle wear gives the impression of a very small amount of plays while the superb audio clarity would appear to back up this theory. In essence, this is a record that has definitely been handled with care.

SOUND

The whole album plays with great audio clarity and, if you play it loud, there is an audible kick to the impact of the louder moments that could only come from first pressing vinyl. There is only the tiniest amount of surface noise in a couple of places, but it is never audible enough to interfere with the sound of the music. The whole record will play with no skipping or sticking and there is an almost total absence of popping or clicking, it really is a genuine treat to find this rare and original prog vinyl in such great shape; don't miss out on this one!!!

COVER CONDITION

This original cover grades as a Very Good. All the edges are still stuck down, and the entire cover is fully intact without any major damage. There are, however, some signs of age and use like a slight lessening to the glossy 'like new' sheen on the laminate front and some all over light and general creases. The front cover has some small laminate creases around all the edges, the worst of these laminate creases is down the spine, but it isn't as bad as this makes it sound and all the text down the spine is still completely legible. There's no seriously developed ring-wear on the cover although there is a slight circular rub mark visible, more so on the non-laminate rear sleeve. So in summary, a cover that has stayed well clear of abuse, but the fact that this has clearly been a well handled album over the years is starting to show with some general signs of wear.
