TOAD Toad (Hallelujah X 616) S/T Same Cream RARE Swiss 1st Pressing 1971 MINT
Very RARE original Swiss first pressing of Toad`s eponymously-titled debut album "Toad" on Hallelujah Records (April 1971).
"Toad's self-titled debut album may have, single-handedly, kicked off the entire Swiss hard rock movement in the '70s. (...) Essentially a power trio consisting of Vittorio "Vic" Vergeat (guitar/vocals), Werner Fröhlich (bass) and Cosimo Lampis (drums), Toad enlisted the help of vocalist Beni Jaeger for this (and only this) album. Heavily blues-based rock (à la Cream, Black Sabbath) was the major force behind Toad's hard driving sound, with bassist Fröhlich providing a mean (and meanderingly gutsy) counterpoint to Vergeat's loose and greasy guitar licks. The record also has moments of Deep Purple-like propulsion, no doubt thanks to that band's engineer Martin Birch, who manned the controls on this one as well." - J. Scott McClintock, allmusic. com

- Original first-pressing unlaminated gatefold sleeve.
- Minimal beginnings of ringwear on back cover only.
- Slight scuffing to bottom corners.
- Two tiny creases to the spine.
- Includes new poly-lined inner sleeve.
MINT(-) RECORD, carefully played once or twice at most. A near-impossible find like this!
- Practically perfect vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- A few very lightest, near-invisible hairlines from sleeve removal only...
- No actual signs of any previous play whatsoever.
- First-pressing Hallelujah Records labels with no spindle wear at all.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "X 616 A Made in Switzerland" and "X 616 B Made in Switzerland".
- This record is fully certified to be a very first, original Swiss pressing of "Toad", released in April 1971.
