Hard to find limited run (only 496 copies!) of two 45 RPM audiophile pressed. Todd Cochran has had an amazing career playing with jazz greats like Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and Herbie Hancock to leading the infamous funk metal hybrid band, Automatic Man, in the seventies as Bayeté.

David Manley and ViTaL Music were dedicated to producing great recordings. Using their own Manley professional line of vacuum tube recording gear, they recorded direct to two track analogue (using the Manley Stereo Gold Reference microphone) in their own 30' by 40' studio, and mastered all of the recordings in their full featured mastering room. Their studio was unique because the complete recording and playback chain (from microphone to playback monitors) was made up of Manley tube electronics.

The performances on this album, recorded by Manley, suggests imaging so real you can reach out and touch the musicians. Vital releases were made in very small quantity so have grown quite rare. Record is new and sealed in it's original plastic sleeve. Perforation is completely intact. Beatuful sealed copy of a very hard to find record.

Review: In 1991, Todd Cochran (also known as Bayeté) turned forty, and recorded his third solo album "Todd". It's an acoustic jazz album, with one vocal track, recorded live to stereo tape master with no overdubs. All the music was played "live" and captured straight onto 2 stereo tracks using no equalization of any kind.

Todd's on acoustic piano, joined by James Leary on bass (for the first time since "Worlds around the Sun" nineteen years before); Clyde Cameron on drums; Michael O'Neill on guitar; and Munyungo Jackson on percussion (who'd played with him on the 1989 Freddie Hubbard album).

This album was the first in a series of audiophile recordings on Vital Records - James Leary went on to release two albums as part of the same series - one with five bass players! - and Munyungo Jackson did one as well, which Cochran played on.
