-Original semi-matte cover
-No UPC/bar code on cover
Note: This is a true white Asylum label first pressing. Most copies of this album sold on eBay as "original" are NOT, in fact, original in that they have the later pressing "blue clouds" Asylum labels.
"Closing Time" was released in early 1973, and it was one of the last Asylum records to be released on the white Asylum labels before they were changed to the "blue clouds" label a couple months later in 1973. Upon its initial release, "Closing Time" did not sell well at all--it did not even chart in the U.S. Thus these white label copies are extremely rare, especially copies that are still in nice condition.
Condition:
The cover is in nice condition with light signs of wear. Front is nice, clean, with light rubbing top middle. Back is nice, seams are nice, intact, no splits, but they do have some light rubbing here and there. Corners are lightly rubbed. Well-preserved and attractive overall. Grade: Excellent (EX), better than typical VG+ copies.
The vinyl is also in nice condition, still retains its original shine. No serious scratches or scuffs, just a few very light, superficial marks on each side probably from taking the vinyl out of paper inner sleeve a few times. Labels are nice, clean, unmarked. No marks around spindle holes, indicating little previous play.
Play-Tested: I've spot played this album, and the fidelity is very nice for an original pressing, no obvious groove damage or wear. A little background noise on the run-in grooves that faded out once the music kicks in. Not audiophile clean, but none of these originals were, and this one is obviously well-preserved and cared for. Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+). Nice original!
