MINT - I don’t use this grade.

NEAR MINT - A near perfect record not played frequently and kept in excellent condition.

NEAR MINT MINUS (EXCELLENT) - A nearly perfect record with one or two inconsequential flaws such as light surface marks that do not affect play. Vinyl and label are clean. Cover should be close to perfect with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident such as slight ring-wear or minor denting to a corner.

VERY GOOD PLUS - The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully.  Light paper scuffs from sliding vinyl in and out of sleeve; some light surface marks, especially for rare titles, which will not affect one's listening experience would be acceptable for most collectors. Sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation on corner or saw cut indicating it was taken out of print.

VERY GOOD - Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise may be present in between tracks or during quiet passages, but not overwhelming the musical experience. Usually a cover is VG when one or two of these problems are evident: ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains, etc.
