This is Tony Joe White's second album released In 1969 originally on the Monument Label. Produced by the acclaimed Billy Swan. Includes his original version of 'Rainy Night In Georgia', a huge hit for Brook Benton & covered by many including Hank Williams Jr., Shelby Lynne & Randy Crawford. Also Includes two bonus tracks never before released on an album, 'Watching The Trains Go By' and the single version of 'Old Man Willis'.

It simply boggles my mind that Elvis became the King, while most people have yet to discover Tony Joe White ... a blistering white hot singer and musician with one foot in the blues and the other in the swamp, laying out one luscious number after another that will reach out and knock you over, like the hand of god himself is bathing you in the warm waters of the southern back woods.

Tony not only possesses an original, strong, intoxicating voice, but he's a first rate musician who should be recognized by more than those in the know, and those in the music business. On songs like "Elements & Things," Tony Joe White can roll you down the highway with the blacktop shimmering heat waves for miles ahead, and in the next breath he can cool things down like chilled air on his version of "Rainy Night In Georgia." The man is one of those artists who manages to float the material of others like it belonged to him all along, though even with his style and grace, it's his originals that ride low in the back seat, making five hundred miles on the flattop seem like a dream come true.

There are many people who claim soul, who profess the blues, and think they put the roll in rock ... but let me tell you true, Tony is soul, Tony is the blues, and Tony did put the roll in steamy Southern rock n' roll. Or should I come over to your house and prove it ...

(b)          The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2   (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY) .

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine (BARELY VISIBLE)
