THE TONY KINSEY QUINTET - INTRODUCING THE TONY KINSEY QUINTET
A godfather of post-war British jazz, Tony Kinsey paved the way for other jazz greats such as Don Rendell who is featured on this LP in top form
Year/Label : 1957 UK DECCA Label number : LK 4186 Matrix numbers : ARL-3507-2A, ARL-3508-1E Stampers : 1 U, 1 UTruly excellent plus plus (EX++) condition (many would grade as "near mint", I am sure) jet black sheen vinyl - completely flat, weighty and difficult to identify any marks at all, even with close inspection under a bright light - remarkable! Pristine labels - virtually unmarked with just a couple of small and very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label. Clearly this is a record that has been little played, and hard to believe that it is 67 years old! Fully (both sides) laminated excellent (EX) condition flipback outer sleeve with firm and unscuffed edges (including perfect condition 1950's thin spine). The opening edges are also firm with barely any fraying and just the hint of some very mild upwards "turning" on the front side opening edge. Each corner remains a near perfectly defined right angle with barely any rubbing at all, the reverse side flipbacks remain in great shape, and all colours, photos, and text remain excellent with original clarity and crispness. I have left the original price sticker of "35/11" on the reverse side though it is easily removeable, and also on the reverse side there is just the hint of some very, very mild age discolouration - nothing really - but overall the condition of this outer sleeve is an undoubted excellent plus - amazing for such a an antiquated and fragile sleeve. Excellent plus plus (EX++) audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, clicks, interference, distortion or background crackle (I'm always hesitant to state no background crackle at all, especially on a 67 year old record, but it really is negligible in this case). Great tone with crystal clear instrumentation and every track a great listen, as you would expect from these jazz giants : Don Rendell (tenor-saxophone), Ronnie Ross (baritone-saxohone), Bill le Sage (piano and vibraphone), Pete Blannin (bass), and Tony Kinsey (drums) - it doesn't get much better than this! Comes with original "Made in England" poly-lined inner sleeve with no edge splits, mild creasing, noticeable age discolouration but remaining functional Surely there cannot be many better condition copies of this highly collectable UK 1st press 1957 jazz classic than this!

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
