SUPER CLEAN HARD TO FIND 1970 very first printing in thick gatefold cover...This is the rare and collectible ORIGINAL pressing in thick gatefold cover with the RARE transparent "Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother long sticker across the top of the front cover -- the sticker was originally only on the outside of the cellophane of 1970 first pressings ...since most folks tore off the outer cellophane - there went the now rare sticker. Later pressings changed the cover design when they printed the title and group name along the top to identify the album when the sticker was no longer produced.
Hard to find than you think ~ especially THIS clean (see details after song listings)
One of the highly underrated Pink Floyd album's and one of the Floyd's more experimental albums ~~ a fact which is emphasised by the opening and closing tracks. The opener is the title track "Atom Heart Mother", a 23 minute spacey epic. The song features great orchestration, sound effects aplenty, and most importantly, some outstanding keyboard work from Rick Wright. The album's three middle songs are more conventional. "If" is a Roger Waters love song, and is one of those rare songs of his showing off his sentimental side. "Summer '68" is a Rick Wright song, and is one of his best vocal efforts ever. It also features some great keys and an incredible chorus. The song is truly a classic, and the best of the album. Then there's David Gilmour's "Fat Old Sun". This is a gentle, uplifting spacey guitar piece with a great guitar solo, and has the kind of life that "If" was lacking. The album then closes with the experimental "Alan's Psychadelic Breakfast". The song is composed of a recording of one of the band's roadies cooking breakfast, and in between, three sections of music. The first is a floating Rick Wright keyboard solo, the second is David Gilmour delivering a starkly beautiful guitar performance, and the third is an outstanding full band jam, finishing the album off perfectly. Although not one of Pink Floyd's more accessible albums, Atom Heart Mother is a brilliant one, and should be in the collection of any serious prog fan.
