On this 6 track TOP SIX mini album you will hear the very best hits from the U.K. Charts of 1967 performed impeccably by some of England's finest session singers and musicians. On these recordings you will hear superb renditions of 6 U.K. Chart Toppers performed in the style of the original artists. Released on the legendary TOP SIX label.
This was the first TOP SIX 7" disc to be recorded at 33 1/3 rpm, thus extending dramatically the playing time of each disc. Also, number 38 will be remembered for the superb rendition of The Beatles hit 'Penny Lane' that for 47 years was believed to have been sung by a young DAVID BOWIE - wishful thinking by Bowie collectors who paid ridiculous prices when this track was re-issued on a MUSIC FOR PLEASURE budget album. It was, of course sung by the legendary session singer TONY STEVEN who told me he never tried to sound like David Bowie because at the time of this recording session Tony had never heard of David Bowie!
This ultra rare pressing of TOP SIX 38 was pressed in Mitcham, Surrey by TRANCO RECORDS LTD., This extremely fine edition has been stored for more than 50 years in my personal vinyl library. The actual vinyl has NEVER BEEN PLAYED It has some feint surface marks due to movements in its storage.
I will, over the coming months be listing other 12" and 7" records, from my personal record library, many guaranteed unplayed since their date of manufacture.
