PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ORIGINAL 1971 first pressing in *stereo* and perhaps the peak of the Chis Youlden era of the mighty Savoy Brown...undoubtedly a great, great album:
Masterful baritone blues singer Chris Youlden sang on four sixties albums including Savoy Brown's finest, Raw Sienna, his voice carrying the day on powerful catchy tunes such as "Stay While the Night Is Young," "Needle and Spoon," "I'm Crying" and "When I Was a Young Boy. No dead tracks here, just one delight after the other...captivated by blistering guitar work from band leader Kim Simmonds ....Kim Simmonds guitar leads range around from Biker movie stuff to some verdant upper range fingering. It's all woven around a hard, very together rhythmic frame for sounds which more than occasionally ignite to fuse that arises from its own synthesis. The band plays at a consistently high caliber througout this set. Kim Simmonds guitar playing is both entertaining and imaginative, while Youlden shows why he was considered one of the premier vocalists of the British Blues scene. From the high energy "Needle and Spoon," to the soulful ballad "I'm Crying," through the raucous arrangements enhanced "Mister Hare," the listener will be rewarded with an immensely enjoyable musical experience. Every song is memorable. Listen to the emotion screaming out in the clotted voice of Chris Youlden on "I'm Crying", to the mellow seduction of "Stay While the Night is Young", and to the instrumental prowess on display on "Is That So?" and "When I Was a Young Boy" which forcefully expresses the regrets of many a man.
Sadly Chris Youlden was soon to leave the band (his last album here) due to 'junk' problems, perhaps the riviting ode in "Needle & Spoon' summed things up: "I rise with the sun and sleep with the moon but I feel alright with my needle and spoon." But never mind all that, things all worked out. The music within is not just outstanding but lots of fun as well by some people who deserves more recognition than they received back then. Has the swagger of total cool.
