PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original 1972 first pressing of the first James Gang album just after guitarist Joe Walsh left the band. He's been replaced by a very capable guitarist who played in the band former "BUSH" (they cut one Lp for this same "Dunhill" label.) Overall STRAIGHT SHOOTER has aged well over the years and has many reasons to enjoy now that the shock is long over when Joe Walsh suddenly left the band, over 40 years ago.
Fortunately original James Gang members Jim Fox (drums) and Dale Peters (bass) remained constants in the band for many years. The fresh changes were a plus that guitarist Domenic Troiano and vocalist Roy Kenner brought to James Gang. Troiano's guitar playing is masterful (as is the late Tommy Bolin's which followed later on). And the production on this album, especially for its time, is surprisingly clean and clear. It is surprising to hear how clear the tone on Peters' bass is. The best track on the Lp might very well be: "My Door is Open." Hopefully more listeners will keep their minds 'open' with this album and dig the grooves this Lp has to offer within. With Kenner and Trojano responsible for the majority of the material, the self produced album found the band in a different direction in comparison to their unique earlier sound (much of it tied directly to Walsh's unique voice), in favor of a professional hard rock (the social commentary 'Madness' and 'My Door Is Open') and rural-rock tinged melodies ('Get Her Back Again' and 'Let Me Come Home'). Technically Kenner was a far better singer than Walsh, but he lacked that certain umph factor that made Walsh such an interesting character. Similarly, while Trojano wasn't nearly as flashy a guitarist as Walsh, technically he may have actually been the better guitarist.

The vinyl: Clean and glossy over both sides, rated: EX" (excellent) to M- anyway, playds clear and clean without issue...both ABC/DUNHILL labels are clean
