"Jackie's Strength" is a song by Tori Amos that pays tribute to the strength and resilience of former First Lady of the United States, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The song draws inspiration from a photograph of Jackie at the funeral of her husband, President John F. Kennedy, as well as from Tori Amos's own personal experiences with grief and loss.
Throughout the song, Amos reflects on the various challenges and struggles that Jackie faced in her life, from the public scrutiny of her marriage to JFK to the tragedies of his assassination and the loss of her own children. Despite these hardships, Amos celebrates Jackie's unwavering strength, grace, and resilience in the face of adversity.
The lyrics of the song evoke a sense of reverence and admiration for Jackie, with lines such as "And every time I think of her, I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue" and "She knows that it's cruel to be constantly true, to never take chances, to die for the blues."
