TRAFFIC - MR FANTASY - 1967 MONO FIRST PRESSING ON PINK ISLAND EYE LABEL     CAT NO: ILP 961 - MATRIX NUMBERS A/B   VINYL: RATES AS EXCELLENT. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST COPIES I HAVE SEEN FOR A LONG TIME, BOTH THE VINYL AND THE COVER ARE IN  GREAT CONDITION CONSIDERING THE AGE OF THIS ALBUM AND THE NOTORIOUSLY FRAGILE GATEFOLD COVER. I HAVE PLAY-GRADED THIS ALBUM AND COMPARED THE AUDIO TO TWO OTHER COPIES I OWN WHICH ARE IN TOP CLASS CONDITION. THIS COPY COMPARES VERY WELL. THE AUDIO IS RICH AND VERY SHARP. THERE IS NO MUDDYING OF THE SOUND AND THE VINYL IS VERY CLEAN AND HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN WELL CARED FOR. IT HAS A COUPLE OF MINOR FAULTS AS FOLLOWS: THERE IS SOME VERY  LIGHT CRACKLE ON THE RUN-IN TO SIDE TWO AND THE QUIET OPENING OF "DEALER." HOWEVER THIS QUICKLY DISAPPEARS AND THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO OTHER BACKGROUND NOISE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE RECORD, EVEN BETWEEN TRACKS.  THERE IS A SLIGHT CLICK LASTING FOR ABOUT FOUR REVOLUTIONS AT THE END OF "NO FACE NO NAME AND NO NUMBER" WHICH IS ALSO AUDIBLE BEFORE THE START OF THE FOLLOWING TRACK "DEAR MR FANTASY", BUT IT IS NOT AUDIBLE DURING THE TRACK ITSELF. I AM BEING SUPER-CRITICAL HERE - TO BE HONEST IT IS HARDLY NOTICEABLE.   LABELS: PINK ISLAND WITH THE "EYE" LOGO, ROUGH TEXTURE. A-SIDE HAS BEEN STAMPED WITH A SHOP OR CLUB LOGO (SEE PHOTO) NO WRITING OR OTHER MARKS. B-SIDE IS EXCELLENT, NO MARKS AT ALL.   COVER: GATEFOLD , FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE; SLIGHT WEAR TO TOP OF SPINE, BUT THE TITLE REMAINS INTACT AND READABLE. USUALLY ON THESE COVERS THE SPINE IS THE FIRST THING TO GO BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE BENT BACK RATHER MORE THAN A CONVENTIONAL GATEFOLD COVER TO INSERT THE RECORD. HOWEVER THIS ONE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE COLOUR REMAINS VERY BRIGHT AND VIBRANT AND IT IS VERY CLEAN. THE INSIDE IS CLEAN WITH NO WRITING OR STICKERS. THERE IS ANOTHER SHOP/CLUB STAMP AT THE TOP OF JIM CAPALDI'S PHOTOGRAPH.   INNER SLEEVE: PLAIN WHITE POLY-LINED PAPER - LOOKS LIKE THE ORIGINAL, IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.   SOME SELLERS WILL HAVE YOU BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MEGA-RARE ALBUM IN ITS MONO FORM. IN REALITY IT'S NOT THAT HARD TO FIND BATTERED COPIES WITH DAMAGED SLEEVES. COPIES AS GOOD AS THIS ONE ARE TRULY RARE AND BECOMING VERY HARD TO FIND.       ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I have been a record collector since the 1960's and have traded them for the last twenty years. Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump. Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
