HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB, UK ISLAND (ILPS 9061) RARE 2nd PRESSING (PINK RIM LABEL) OF TRAFFIC's DEBUT LP, "Mr Fantasy" ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN DECEMBER 1967

DURING THE SUMMER AND AUTUMN OF 1967 TRAFFIC HAD THREE HUGE SINGLES FOR ISLAND: "Paper Sun" (June), "Hole In My Shoe" (September) and "Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush" (November) SO EXPECTATIONS WERE EXTREMELY HIGH WHEN THE BAND RELEASED THEIR FIRST LP IN DECEMBER OF THAT YEAR
IN ANTICIPATION OF DEMAND ISLAND PRESSED THE LP IN VERY LARGE NUMBERS (with the PINK LABEL, CIRCLE LOGO) BUT SALES WERE DISAPPOINTING (possibly because the three singles were not included) WITH THE ALBUM ONLY REACHING NUMBER 8 IN THE UK AND SPENDING JUST 16 WEEKS ON THE CHART
THIS GOES SOME WAY TO EXPLAINING WHY THE FIRST PRESSING OF THIS ALBUM IS FAR MORE COMMON THAN THIS PINK RIM 2nd PRESS (1971) AS ISLAND HAS A STOCKPILE OF UNSOLD FIRST PRESSING AND IT WAS FOUR YEARS BEFORE THE LP NEEDED A REISSUE (just check out other copies for sale or recently sold and you will see that this Pink Rim pressing hardly ever turns up)

THE RECORD HAS THE ISLAND RECORDS PINK RIM LABELS
MARTIX: ILPS 9061 A-3U ("Porky" etched) / ILPS 9061 B-3U (first and only UK pressing on this label variant)
MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 1/R and 1/R (in the batch of the first 600 pressed)
AND IS HOUSED IN A THICK CARD, MATTE GATEFOLD SLEEVE "Printed and made by the E. J. Day Group, London and Bedford" WITH FACTORY SEALED AND FOLDED UNDER LEFT SIDE EDGE

LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and hardly a spindle trace to be seen. BEAUTIFUL BARELY PLAYED COPY
VINYL Visual: The surfaces have their original DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN with a just a few superficial light marks but these are of NO audio consequence
VINYL Audio: The audio is absolutely SENSATIONAL THROUGHOUT - CRYSTAL CLEAR, STRONG, VIBRANT SOUND. There are NO scratches, NO sticks, NO jumps, NO clicks/pops. The album plays to an extremely high standard with SUPERB AUDIO CLARITY, NO groove-wear and NO distortion (its hardly been played). Must be graded NEAR MINT for audio - the playback is practically FLAWLESS. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page)
SLEEVE: The EJ DAY gatefold is also in SUPERB condition with very little wear or rubbing - just a tiny touch of ring to the back otherwise, CRISP, CLEAN and FRESH (please see photos). EXCELLENT+
