Description
You wil rarely find this LP in such agreat condition. It's a UK stereo pressing entitled 'The Garden of Jane Delawney' by Trees on the UK CBS label. This album was actually released in 1970 and I understand that this is a first pressing. The catalogue number is S 63837. The music encompasses UK folk and US West Coast psychedelia with some blistering lead guitar from Barry Clarke. Celia Humphries on vocals has an exquisite voice. This album will definitely appeal to collectors of folk, psychedelic and progressive music from the late 1960's and early 1970's.
OUTER SLEEVE - the sleeve is in beautiful condition with some very minor wear. The top and bottom edges show virtually no wear and the spine is in supeb condition. The wording along the spine is 100% readable. It states on the rear left of the sleeve - 'Produced by DAVID HOWELLS and TONY COX - Engineers - Vic Gamm, Mike Fitzhenry - Back photo - Elly Beintema - Cover painting & design - David Costa - SHOREPAK by Shorewood Packaging Co. Ltd., ENGLAND, Patents Pending'. I've graded the sleeve as Ex++.
INNER SLEEVE - This is a CBS company paper sleeve entitled 'ROCKBUSTER HEAVY ON CBS'. It features a number of LP covers by other CBS artist on both sides. It states - 'PATENT No. 1,125,555 - CBS Records - 28/30 Theobalds Road - London - WC1 - MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN'. I have graded this as Ex.
RECORD - This record which has a very chunky feel to it and is clearly an early pressing is in beautiful condition. There are some minor surface marks on both sides which result in very light surface noise especiallyin quiet passages and between tracks. There are occasional pops and claicks but there are definitely no jumps or skips on either side. The only blemish is a series of clicks on the last track on side two which lasts for about 8 revolutions. This does not detract in any way from the overall quality of the recording. The labels are the textured orange CBS types from the late 1960's and early 1970's with the black logo and and wording. These are in lovely condition. There are some minor spindle marks on both labels. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - S-63837 A1 (stampers V V) - side two - S 63837-B1 (stampers A C) - PLEASE NOTE TAT THE STAMPERS ARE NOT CLEAR. I have graded the record as Ex++ in spite of the slight blemish on the last track on side two and believe that this is very fair. I never grade anything as mint or M-. However, this album is not far off such a grading.
