The record contains both self-penned material as well as cover versions of Lennon & McCartney, José Feliciano and Holland-Dozier-Holland, sung in Icelandic. Great progressive tracks with sixties pop touches, beautiful female vocals.
Musically this is prog/psych.
Last June this album was voted number 48 in a search for the 100 best Icelandic albums of all time. (See the top 50 list at: http://www.tonlist.is/Music/ChartList.aspx?ID=289#0)
The record was pressed in the UK but distributed in Iceland only, by a local label company named Fálkinn.
Gatefold cover with lyrics printed on the inside.
One of the rarest Icelandic records!
Condition of record: VG-/VG (Lot of hairline/surface marks, obviously been listened to a lot - Played through without skipping but with occasional tick - The music was very enjoyable - Would rate it VG- visually but VG+ after listening to it)
Condition of cover: VG/VG+ (Looks very nice overall but has a 3-4 cm long rip on the spine)
About Trúbrot:
History
The band was formed in 1969 as an Icelandic supergroup composed of members of the bands Hljómar and Flowers. Their eponymous first album was released that same year, a collection of orchestral and organ-backed pop songs which included a cover of The Beatles's "Things We Said Today" and a five-minute mini-opera "Elskaðu Náungan", which was based on Richard Wagner's Tannhäuser.
While the first album is entirely in Icelandic, later albums featured more English singing. 1971's Lifun came in a hexagonal cover.
Several members of this band would become part of the group Náttúra, who released one album in 1972. Trúbrot itself broke up in 1973.
