Description
HERE'S that man again, DUKE ELLINGTON AND HIS ORCHESTRA, in two utterly wonderful sides from 1935: Rube Bloom's great song, "TRUCKIN'", the dance sensation of the year, with incendiary vocal by IVY ANDERSON and guest hot tenor sax soloist, BEN WEBSTER. It's a preview of coming attractions: in 1940, Ben would join Duke's band as a permanent member, carving a whole new path for the tenor sax in Ellingtonia.
The flip side, "ACCENT ON YOUTH," is the title tune of the movie of the same name.
Neither side is an Ellington composition, yet he stamps his individuality into every groove.
This original 1935 laminated, West-Coast-Pressing Brunswick 7513 is in solid E- condition. A little wear, but clean playing.

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
