TSEHEITU BARAKI WITH TEWELDE’S BAND

LA BOLA / AKEZAKOYNU, ETHIOPIAN 7” JAZZ VINYL.

RARE Original 1972, 7” vinyl single made in East Africa on the Phillips label, so the pressing was very good. Both sides sung in Amharic, the language most widely used in Ethiopia. Tseheitu is one of many artists that released records during the Golden Years of vinyl in Ethiopia. This was released in 1972, two years before Hailie SELASSIE was overthrown by the Derg. The crackdown on music releases was just beginning. Further information about Ethiopian jazz, folk and ballads is available on the internet and discogs site. This is quite rarely available and is an original 7” vinyl single from 1972. The vinyl plays all the way through without jumping. It does have a lot of scratches which you can see when you hold it up to the light. I’ve given it a grading of FAIR as it doesn’t jump or stick but the sound quality is very crackly. The labels do have names written on both sides and the centre has been poked through. It comes in a plain white new sleeve as the original sleeve is long gone. I do have other Ethiopian vinyls being listed. DISCOGS VALUE IS LISTED BETWEEN £8.80 to £264.00 DEPENDING ON CONDITION AND SCARCITY.
