All covers, labels and inners have no rips, loosening of glue, handwriting in ink or biro pen.

All records listed are in no less than EX condition (see above for actual grading). In some cases I may list a very rare record at a lesser grading but this will be described in detail. All items are graded conservatively according to Record Collectors Grading System Record Collectors Grading system (outlined at end of listing)

Brief description of item

Brian Edward (TUBBY) Hayes & his quintet of Gordon Beck on piano, Freddy Logan bass, Alan Ganley on drums & Jimmy Deuchar on trumpet...Created in 1962 a live recording, performed at the world famous Ronnie Scott Club, tilted "Late Spot At Scott's"

This album is one of (if not the best) Tubby Hayes albums. VERY, VERY RARE British jazz release, via FONTANA records. Released in 1963 & is a first pressing - NOT reproduction.

Test played on both sides, resulted in an overall EXCELLENT player. Expect the slightest of background in the quitter places I.E. The introduction & the track "Angel Eyes" if your looking to sit back & enjoy the listening pleasure of this recording, then this is a very, very nice playing example. There are no skips, heavy/light distortion, no ingrained dust, no scratched heavy marks (although some light marks exist on the actual record/vinyl itself) the disc is not warped or damaged. In other words : expect a few light hairlines, and some marks from the inner sleeve removal...Happily none of these have an impact off any consequence to the LOUD & very GREAT recording.

I noticed a pop on side 2...This was only on Tubby's intro thankfully, so not a big deal really is it. Otherwise, we have an exact grade following the correct system of EXCELLENT audio. Both labels are the silver/black matt or textured labels, no handwritten names or ripping/tearing. Only some slight signs of very light spindle use around the inner centre part, these do not trail off into the label & all text is fully legible. Run off matrix are correct as listed here above & in the photos you can see that this is original of course & nothing less.

The main jacket/sleeve/cover is a VERY GOOD PLUS example. Some half moon crescents on the front laminate, which is still fully intact. All flip back tabs are intact to the rear of the cover, there are no handwritten names in ink or biro pen ANYPLACE, Tubby has a slight part of wear on his jacket (front cover) some crease that's got to be expected for the age! No splitting of the spine at the side either. Back cover is nice and clean, with all text fully legible again. Slight crease to the back cover, on the bottom left hand side. Still a great looking cover & nice survivor here. Some slight corner wear & a little age to the loader at the side, but no tape repairs here...Which are pretty common to the design if you know what I mean? in general these cover would be ripped-torn, scored, dirty, stained, aged, split, written on, damp damaged, smell of age & dusty...NONE of these issues are existing here. Conservative grade & I hope in  depth enough (with these close up & LARGER views of all below my description.

The original ploy lined inner sleeve is here & in VG++ shape, poly liner still attached to the inside. However, I store this item within a NEW liner/inner sleeve. The record is stored outside the cover to avoid split. I will post this way. Please see the mailers I use here in 'payment & shipping' box below. I make sure you get there...What you see here. Record will be packed in a tough custom box DEFENDAPACK mailer as shown in the photos below. The mailer has a locking tab. The record will be placed outside its cover and inside a brand new polythene protector between two card stiffeners and sealed at the top with fragile marked masking tape. Items are labelled "handle with care".

Mint (M) The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet. booklet or poster are in perfect condiition. Records marked as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent (EX) The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good (VG) The record has obviously been played many times, but displayes no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable

Good (G) The record has been played so much that the sound quality has notceably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc

Fair (F) The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor (P) The record will not play properly due to scratched, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing Bad (B) The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler

CD's and CASSETTES As a general rule CD's and Cassettes either play perfectly - inwhich case they are in Mint condition - or they don't, in which case their value is minimal. Cassette tape is liable to deteriorate with age, even if it remains unplayed, so care should be taken when buying old tapes. CD's are difficult to grade visually; they can look perfect but actually be faulty, while in other cases they may appear damaged but still play perfectly. Cassette and CD inlays and booklets should be graded in the same way as record covers and sleeves. In general, the plastic containers for cassettes and CDs can easily be replaces if they are broken or scratched, but card covers and digipaks are subject to the same wear as record sleeves
