Description
TUBBY HAYES - " MEXICAN GREEN ", Fontana (SFJL 911) Stereo, 1968
Super rare, 1968, English 1st issue/pressing Fontana LP of the classic Tubby Hayes album.
Featuring original silver and blue Fontana labels and front laminated flipback sleeve.
Matrix and stamper numbers: 886500 1Y 1 420 1 1 2 / 886500 2Y 1 420 1 1 6
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve.
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, only the lightest spindle trails, etc. Even under a bright grading lamp the vinyl is clean and free from marks/scratches and signs of use in general.
On playback, there is some faint surface rumble during the silent run-in (in the pressing) which disappears as soon as the music starts. It plays really well throughout - strong, clean and without interuptions... no clicks, no crackles, no surface noise, on obvious signs of wear, etc.
Based on both playback and visual appearance, this LP has obviously hardly ever been played in it's lifetime - based on the predominantly easy listening collection it came from, I wonder if this record was bought in error or was an unwanted gift... either way, it's obviously spent most of it's life on a shelf rather than a turntable.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = EXCELLENT (No rips, tears, heavy creases, defacing, etc. Still flat and clean but with a few tiny creases in the laminate and a little light wear to the edges/corners to mark it down slightly - see photos for further clarification)
