TUBBY HAYES QUINTET: DOWN IN THE VILLAGE – FONTANA Mono
1962 Fontana mono LP, catalogue no. 680 998 TL with black/silver label. The Tubby Hayes Quintet recorded this LP “live” at the Ronnie Scott Club, London, 17th – 18th May 1962; it remains a vivid snapshot of the era in which Tubby Hayes (1936-73) reigned supreme. The sleeve notes are by Ronnie Scott.
Quintet are: Tubby Hayes (tenor, soprano saxes, vibes), Jimmy Deuchar (trumpet), Gordon Beck (piano), Freddy Logan (bass), Allan Ganley (drums). Tracks: (Side 1) Johnny One Note, But Beautiful, The Most Beautiful Girl In The World; (Side 2) Down in The Village, In The Night, First Eleven.
This record is overall in Very Good Plus condition with a few light marks but nothing drastic. Professional cleaning would enhance the appearance. The sleeve is clean & intact with some edge & corner wear.
